We recently had the pleasure of staying at Alpacas Off Grid for a night, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our main intention was to relax and embark on some scenic walks in the beautiful Kahurangi National Park, which conveniently sat right beside our comfortable accommodation.
From the moment we arrived, Nat and Grant, the hosts of Alpacas Off Grid, welcomed us warmly and made us feel right at home. Their hospitality and attention to detail were truly commendable. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed throughout our stay, making our time there truly memorable.
The accommodation itself was cozy and inviting. Nestled in the midst of nature, we were surrounded by breathtaking views and the tranquility of the wilderness. The room was comfortable, offering all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. It was apparent that Nat and Grant had put a lot of thought into creating a space that blended seamlessly with the natural beauty of the area.
One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to Kahurangi National Park. Being able to step out of our accommodation and directly access the park was a nature lover's dream come true. We were able to explore the park at our own pace, taking in the awe-inspiring landscapes and enjoying the serenity of the surroundings. It was an experience that left us feeling rejuvenated and connected to nature.
Overall, our stay at Alpacas Off Grid exceeded our expectations. Nat and Grant's warm hospitality, combined with the beautiful location and comfortable accommodation, made for an unforgettable experience. We would like to extend our gratitude to them for having us and ensuring that our time there was nothing short of fantastic. We highly recommend Alpacas Off Grid to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in close proximity to the mesmerizing Kahurangi...
Read moreOnly stayed the one night but had an amazing time and wish we could have stayed longer. Nat and Grant are great hosts and made us feel really welcome. The stay in the house truck was such an experience, it’s beautifully made, cozy and comfortable. Our daughter loved the Alpacas and chickens :) As an added bonus for anyone feeling adventurous the property joins onto the start of the ‘kill devil’ track. This track is open to mountain biking with the full ride being a 37km return trip. I didn’t have time to do the full ride but tackled kill devil climb. Research suggested a grade 4-5 ride and for parts of the climb this is pretty accurate. The gradient isn’t too severe but it’s a long, rocky climb with tight switchbacks. I was definitely walking parts of it! Great views along the way and rewarding to make it too the top! The decent was easier than I expected, though take it easy as there are some steep drop offs! More like a grade 3-4 coming down. Challenging but fun ride, bring a full suspension mtb and some fitness if you want to take it on :) Refuel after the ride was provided in the form of delicious pancakes with fruit. Thanks so much...
Read moreI only spent one night, but I wish I had time to spend a few more. The alpacas are definitely a plus - so cute and calming. It's great looking out the kitchen window to a pack curious alpacas staring back at you. The land itself, though, was the highlight. It's absolutely gorgeous. Each window looks out to a stunning view. Pictures don't do it justice. There's also a private spring with a hammock (!!!) - it's dreamy. The barn is cozy, low-key, and it has all of the amenities you might need. It's off grid, and I didn't have any cell service or wifi, but I did not miss it one bit. Taking in the sights and reveling in the serenity of the place was all I needed. The hosts were so nice and accommodating as well, definitely didn't roll their eyes at me too much for over reading the directions and needing rescue. Please don't miss out on this - it's a gem hidden in the bush. You won't regret the time you'll spend here.
(Thanks again for the spoon. It'll...
