Birds Ferry Lodge Luxury B&B New Zealand — Hotel in South Island

I cannot rave enough about this place and the hosts. Birds Ferry Lodge is a sanctuary (I can't believe we were lucky enough to be able to book a room here!) Alison & Andre are fantastic and have thought of every small detail you could imagine. We initially were blown away by the gardens as we entered the property. They gave us a very warm welcome as Alison prepared an exquisite dinner. Our meals at Birds Ferry were by far the best we had while in New Zealand! She is quite the chef, and Andre gave us endless local recommendation for our trip. The room was very comfortable and spacious, with all of the necessary amenities to relax after a busy day on the west coast. Bath robes, towel heaters, fresh water, coffee/tea, etc. Walking the gardens was a highlight, with the most beautiful collection of fresh flowers. What a cool place! We stayed in the cottage for two nights on a package to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted with a warm personal but unobtrusive welcome to the cottage. Beautiful property with great walks through native bush. The cottage is private with great views and gardens. Very warm and plenty of firewood provided for cooler days. The outdoor baths are a must to try. Breakfast, bubbly, snacks and cottage dinner were provided which were all delicious! After our afternoon massages (thanks Andre - very relaxing!), we ate at the lodge on the second night - another beautiful meal and wine provided by Alison.
