Lovely site tucked away from the main road, didn't hear anything other than rain and the occasional bird song. There was access to the lake that was so close I wouldn't even call it a walk, just right across the quiet entrance road. Cold showers, clean toilets with running water+ sinks, and very friendly staff. Reccomend using this as a campsite to relax and take some hikes in the nearby trails!

Really nice and spacious campground, nothing luxurious but none of doc campgrounds are. There is a new toilet block with cold showers and a little kitchen building with nets in the windows. A few grassy spots for pitching a tent. It would be nice to see more picnic seats ;)

Make sure you book before coming and find the camp host to tell them you're there. If you arrive after 4.30pm you can try to find them at the other Campsite at Kerr Bay, we had to do that because we arrived too late and the camp host was lovely. Thank you!

The West Bay campsite. DOC. A OK place to pitch up. A bit lacking on grass and tenting areas were not well cared for and flattened out. Kitchen for campers, but tiny table was a bit pathetic, only room for four people to sit. When there are benches which could have a table for another six in the kitchen, and room for a table! Kitchen not properly cleaned each day, food on floor from one day to the next, finally cleaned up on third day of visit. Quite expensive, when you think of the price of a DOC hut. Sandflies not so bad as some places and DOC have zapped the wasp population with traps around the...

Very good DOC site with very clean and new toilets and showers. Only cold water but has a pully so you can put up your own hot water bag. Also has a kitchen area to prepare food or clean your pots. We found a really nice quiet spot in the trees to camp. Just ensure you bring along your mozzie repellent for the midges and sand flies. We checked in at the DOC office near the lake as this made the vaccine pass...

Feb 2020. Excellent campsite although a little more pricey than most DOC campsites. Camp can be busy, and you must pre-book on line, or buy a pass at the Rotoiti Lake Visitor Centre BEFORE setting up camp. Facilities at West Bay are superb although the only showers are cold. Ground can be hard and dusty if tenting. Beach (gravel) and boat launching within easy walk from campground....
