Cow Stream Natural Hot Springs — Hotel in South Island

This is so disappointing that this has now been plastered on Google.

For so many years this beautiful spot has remained some what of a local secret spot that can be enjoyed peacefully without the hoards.

Now the already fragile pools will get hammered and no doubt damaged.

Not everything needs to be placed on the Web, This is how so many longtime quite peaceful places / things suddenly get overrun by people, vehicles etc and end up getting damaged and even destroyed.

Had such a great day, it was quite windy but that didn’t dampen the experience. The track was well maintained, and fairly clearly marked. The pools were as I expected- slippery, smelly and with slime but that’s what makes it! It’s an authentic experience and I loved it! There were three pools side by side over the river from the initial pool that you come to, and the heat was varied between them- hot/comfortable/warm. Can’t wait to go back again sometime. Thanks to the team who have made this an accessible day out...

Worst springs around! Its just a small pond full of algae with decent hot water in it and you cant stand in it also because the ground is hot! Cant really swim either! The route is 18km from jamestead carpark and takes a left to cow stream hot springs after 4km! And then 14km of tough tough 4WD only! And three river crossings and a steep dangerous moutain rise in the last km! Even though you can park before the third river crossing and goto the springs by walking and avoiding taking the car over...
