Drift Off Grid is a truly magical getaway. Tucked away in the beauty of Tata Beach (Golden Bay), this retreat offers the perfect blend of luxury and nature. The accommodation is exceptional—beautifully designed with thoughtful touches that make it both comfortable and indulgent. Waking up to the sound of birdsong, surrounded by native bush and the gentle rhythm of the waves, was an experience I won’t forget.

Lana and Drew make the stay unforgettable—their kindness, deep connection to the land, and genuine love for this place are evident in every thoughtful detail. They are exceptional individuals who have created something truly special. Every detail has been considered, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and deeply connected to nature. The private chef meal was a highlight, a beautifully crafted experience that made the stay even more memorable. Exquisite flavours in an unforgettable setting.

A heartfelt thank you to Lana and Drew for their incredible generosity—not only for organising a birthday cake but for the joy of having Xander take part in blowing out the candles. Gorgeous! I’m also truly grateful for their help in arranging the courier to get my laptop back to me also. Their kindness and attention to detail made an already amazing stay even more special.

Drift Off Grid is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave. It is a place to truly switch off, breathe, and just be. It’s peaceful, beautifully designed, and a reminder of how good it feels to slow down. I can’t...

3 words to describe this place, relaxing, breathtaking and surreal! Beautiful location with stunning views (as you can see). You just can’t get enough of this view. If you need a place to just go and unwind and enjoy some beautiful scenery while taking time to just relax. Well this is definitely the place to stay! The detail put into these tents makes your stay definitely worth your while. The setting is so modern yet so comfy with a warm feel. To the little selection of games that definitely kept us entertained while soaking in the view at the same time! Just to have a meal and soak in the views was unreal! But to top it off, my partner and I in a bath tub of our own, soaking and relaxing while capturing the evening sunset was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. And the Buggy’s! As you arrive there all ready waiting for you, was definitely a fun addition to the place. It was a nice little drive down to the beach in the buggy. So much fun. I feel like I haven’t touched down on all the highlights I have for this place, so you’ll just have to check it out for yourselves! This place is pure paradise so I highly recommend Drift of Grid for your...

I booked this place for three nights with high expectations based on reviews, but I was deeply disappointed. The only cooking device on site was an outdoor grill, but it malfunctioned, so we wasted three hours trying to check its functionality. Ultimately, the wind was so strong that cooking outside became impossible, so we had to forgo grilling steak and go get takeout. Furthermore, the blankets and pillows reeked of sweat and grease, and the sink drained poorly. The lack of pre-checked functionality, despite the price, was a major drawback. The most difficult part was the intense winds that hit us all night, causing the entire tent to shake as the outside walls banged against other plastic sheets attached to the tent. The noise was so loud that it was nearly impossible to sleep. We ultimately forfeited our three-night stay and evacuated the next morning. We hadn't experienced such a horrific experience sleeping in an outdoor tent, but the owner blamed the wind and made us responsible for all damages. If such strong winds make sleeping difficult, we shouldn't be using this place as a place to stay, even...

Woahhh what a weekend! I read about this stunning place earlier in the year in a Stuff news article and thought I HAVE TO GO THERE. My sweet man booked us in for my bday weekend and it did not disappoint. Drew and Jana have done the most incredible job with building these luxury glamping tents. They make you feel really special & the decor is so restful and tasteful. It’s incredible peaceful and comfortable - the bed is like sleeping in a cloud (if I knew what that felt like!). The bird song is like nothing I’ve heard in my life, the most beautiful way to wake up. And the kea family were so entertaining! They readily catered for my vegan diet. The baths were amazing. The views unreal! All this private gorgeousness is just two hours drive from our home. We really enjoyed our walk to Wainui falls and swimming at the “ok to go sans clothing” part of Wainui beach. We have decided to go back again to celebrate our birthdays and may even make it an annual thing. Thank you so very much for being amazing hosts Drew & Jana. You’ve created a piece of paradise!
