Galaxy Lodge — Hotel in South Island

Cool stone cottage house. It was clean and great for a big crowd. Most bedrooms have an ensuite. It was middle of winter when we stayed and house was very cold when we arrived. It took a while to warm up once the fires were lit and heaters turned on. But we were nice and cosy the next day.

When we stayed they had a cluster fly infestation..... Mainly in one room. Owners were aware about it when we told them and I really dont think they should of hired it out knowing that there was that issue. The couple staying in that room ended up sleeping in lounge as there were hundreds of flies. Stay would of been perfect if there were no flies!

Some locals told us that there has been a fly problem around the Fairlie, Tekapo area so not owners fault and they said they had used pest control... But...

Great looking house. Beds are nice and tidy Comes with pizza oven but don’t even bother. Not enough match, only given 10 sticks. No coffee, no tea, very little oil, Quite untidy maintenance room. One ensuite bathroom unavailable. No dishwasher liquid/powder for dishwashing machine. TV not friendly to use, remote battery for 1 is dead. No instructions to use dish tv. Water pressure for shower upstairs is weak. When you’re cooking whole place smells, open the window and be cold or smelly inside but be warm. For almost 600 a night good price for a huge number of people. But would like to have gotten what they lack...
