Ghost Lodge Granity — Hotel in South Island

This place is fantastic for a stay close to the Old Ghost Rd. It has a wonderful homely feel about it as the owner Simon has done a fantastic job of building a unique lodge with native timbers and tasteful furnishings. We stopped here after mountainbiking the Old Ghost trail -what a way to end - could wash the bikes down and sit relaxing on a wonderful deck overlooking the West Coast outstanding!!! Would be fantastic for a large group as lots of room - we were a group of 3 and loved staying up top listening to the Tasman rolling in on our doorstep. We will never forget our stay at Ghost Lodge and hope to return again someday soon - thanks Simon for being a great host and sharing a wonderful unique...

Ghost Lodge Cottage is beside the Ghost Lodge. The cottage is quaint and unpretentious. The beds were very comfortable and shower had plenty of pressure in it. It's a short walk to the beach through the back yard. Its a lovely quiet spot for a romantic getaway or just somewhere to get away from life for a while.

No wifi and my phone worked fine off the 3G network. 4G was picked up in certain areas of the house at various contortions...

We really liked it here.

Its a AirBnB kinda set up so you will need to bring food and drinks.

The Ngakawau Pub is near by with fantastic meals, good views and you'll be well looked after.

Will return to Granity...

The house is in great location and really well kept. It's great for large groups and entertaining.

The owner was very knowledgeable about the local area, and showed us some walks that weren't in any of the local guides or apps that are well worth doing. He was also really helpful, finding us a bbq for the house, bringing in fire wood, providing wetsuits and body boards for the beach.

The only negatives were booking through air bnb resulted in some confusion. It would also be helpful to know when booking that while it is dog friendly, they arent allowed in the house. Minor things really.
