We stayed at the Gibbston House over New Years 2018. ||||Mary and Terry are literally the best hosts that we've ever had. We have an amazing time just chatting with them in the morning (Mary makes delish omelettes) and relaxing with them in the evening over a glass of wine. They are super nice and accommodating hosts, and just wonderful people in general. While we were there, two other girls checked in and realized they had made a mistake with their reservation, and also had no rental car or valid license. Since it was over New Years, nearly every place was booked, but Mary and Terry helped them find another place in Queenstown itself. The days that the girls did stay at Gibbston House, Mary and Terry drove them into Queenstown and picked them up every day! Last story: We stayed in Te Anau afterwards, but still flew out of Queenstown airport to go home. Mary and Terry actually remembered the day and time that we flew out, and surprised us at the airport! We honestly felt like we were saying goodbye to close family members, even though we were only there for 4 nights.||||Also, I think normally, they keep their two small poodle doggies (Lucy and Poppy) in their part of the home. But we happened to see them in the yard and they are super well behaved! Highly recommend the experience of having one in your lap, one hand petting, one hand sipping glass of Pinor Noir (fyi, South NZ is known for their Pinot Noir), looking at the mountains in the distance during sunset. Honestly, can't beat it.||||The BnB is great. Super comfortable beds to just crash out on after a day of outdoor activities (either active like hiking/biking or inactive like wine tasting). When we stayed in early January, the temperature was perfect to just crack open the window during the day and let the wind in. And the views are just ridiculous. The BnB is on a hill, so you see super far into the distance and have amazing views of mountains during sunrise or moonrise. It's far enough from Queenstown that there's very little light pollution so you also have star gazing too.||||The BnB is outside of Queenstown in the wine country, so note that you'll definitely need a rental car to drive around. It's about a 25-30min drive into Queenstown.||||All in all, amazing experience, wonderful hosts, and a...
