Review regarding tent camping area and common areas/facilities/services. Fairly typical holiday park.

-about 20 mins drive to all the fun tracks /trailheads in Aoraki National Park. 35 mins to Tweizel and your nearest grocery and petrol. -all sites are fairly level with coverage from wind which can howl and good drainage. -friendly front desk staff, particularly the german/ English speaking ones (and I'm not German nor have any affiliation nor proclivity towards). -toilets and showers stay fairly clean, mud from rain notwithstanding. Large shower stalls and good hot water. Kitchen and eating area are fairly large, but get busy. Not quite enough fridge space so get yours early. Sufficient kitchen utensils and dishware even when busy. Cleaning time is midday so mid-afternoon use will give you the leanest facilities. -wifi is free in common area with very weak signal except near wall between common area and kitchen, where router is located. 30 mins free per device per day is allowed. You can pay $5 for 10gb for a day on two devices. If you're lucky you'll get 1Mbps down. From 730 to 930am and 730 to930pmyoullbe lucky to get 100kbps down. Wifi signal is strong in cafe/main lobby but it's not free at that location and only open 8am to 9pm. Spark 4g is strong throughout. -caution if there are large youth/ student groups here as both the students and their adult chaperones tend to be disrespectful to other guests in common areas. I would go so far as to suggest you call to ensure no large student groups have bookings before making your own booking here. BTW, a fair number of mail and Chinese people stay here and all whom I interacted with were courteous and respectful. -cafe is very overpriced and mediocre except coffee which is overpriced but good. -laundry will cost $6 for a small load and $10 for a large load, this includes washing and drying. $1 single detergent packets and required $2 coins available at front lobby desk. -usual assortment of mozzies and sandflies. Not horrible for...

One of the best campgrounds we've stayed at! This place has just about everything you could ask for: -spacious campsite with lots of trees -unpowered or powered sites with water tap available -stunning views -private lake access via a 15 minute walk from the campsite -cafe within walking distance (food options at the cafe are quite limited but the coffee is very good) -fast wifi -several wifi repeaters throughout the grounds so you get at least two bars in most places in the campground -big sheltered bbq area with an amazing view -clean modern showers with very hot water and good pressure -laundry facilities with several big drying racks throughout the site ($4 per load for wash) -very good water from a nearby mountain stream, triple filtered but not chlorinated (yay!) -very well-equipped kitchen with lots of pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment (including two rice cookers) mostly in good condition The only issue I found was that the stovetops/hot plates in the kitchen are not in the best condition, some of them are very slow or don't work at all. The kitchen can get VERY full around dinner time when the camp is busy, so this slows things down a bit. Also be aware that, even though the wifi is usually quite fast (they use Starlink as a provider) it can get overloaded or stop working for a while at peak times when the park is busy. We stayed here for two nights and would have gladly stayed longer...

Glentanner Park was the ideal place to stay during our visit to the Mount Cook area. It was less than a half our drive to the Mount Cook Village, and so many activities are offered right at the park. We took a magical helicopter ride around Mount Cook, including landing on the snow.

We stayed for two nights in a powered site, the amenities were modern and clean including a state-of-the-art barbeque area . We were a bit disappointed to find that, despite what we had read on the website, dinner options were restricted, although, the meals we had were tasty and freshly cooked (sausage and chips for me and an omelette for my husband) and the service was impeccable. Apparently the cafe has recently been taken over by a new catering firm and they are still finding their feet, The decor is a bit tired, but there are plans for improvement.

During our second night, when I expressed my disappointment at not having the tasty roast lamb that had been promised on the website, out of nowhere a beautiful lamb roast including vegetables and gravy was produced in under forty minutes! We didn't mind the wait, as the view from the cafe of Mount Cook and surrounds is absolutely breathtaking. If you are planning a visit to Mount Cook (and why wouldn't you!), please visit Glentanner Park, the staff are keen to make ongoing improvements and it will go from strength to...

Stayed here in late April during the school holidays. One of my favourite spots on our trip. The park is nestled in an amazing area with spectacular views of snow-capped hills and the mountains - Mt Aorangi (North Island dialect). We arrived in the evening after the office had closed and collected our room key. We booked a basic family unit that had beds and a toilet/basin. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets were great - perfect for the cold environment. The kitchen/dining room was full for hours of what looked like a big group. We used the kitchen and then ate in our room, as nobody moved from the tables for hours. I do find some people can be inconsiderate when using shared spaces, so some time limits when busy can be helpful. The views in the morning were stunning! We had perfect weather for sunrise and even had a visit from a lenticular cloud around Mt Aorangi. A few other people were out with their cameras and friendly attitudes as well. Best spot to be for local adventures - hiking, photography, heli-adventures. Staff are friendly too.

The location and centre was lovely. Views are great, you can see and track down to lake Pukaki (20 minutes). Our cabin had 4 wooden single bunk beds (some of the slats were broken or missing) and one metal double bunk bed for 3. One toilet and one basin for 11 people, which isn't great. Shower areas are near to the dining areas (the one next to the larger dining area is better than the other), and there are more toilets/sinks there. We arrived on Xmas day, so perhaps that was why the dining and cooking area was packed as cafe and most other eating places were shut. Staying in the cabin felt rather cramped, even though there were just 9 of us as we had lots of luggage. Laundry area is small and only 2 tumble dryers. You need 2 dollar coins to use these. The main letdown during our stay was the weather but that was just our bad luck (our glacier cruise was cancelled, and we couldn't go out for hikes in the rain.
