Highlands on Homestead — Hotel in South Island

We absolutely loved our stay at Highlands on Homestead! Jenny was the loveliest host, we had the chance to take a stroll and meet her furry family in the morning and had fun learning more about them and feeding Smudge the Alpaca. 🦙 We also got a surprise visit from Hokey Pokey the resident cat when we were chilling in the common area, he is such a sweetheart! The space was quiet, clean, comfy, tastefully furnished, warm and had everything we needed. Options for breakfast like toast, spreads, muesli, coffee, teas etc. were a bonus that we appreciated. We've stayed at a number of places in Oamaru and Highlands on Homestead was by far our favourite! Jenny and Andrew are wonderful, kind hosts and their property is a little slice of heaven in a beautiful area. The accommodation itself was warm and cosy with everything we needed and the garden and farmland made for a very tranquil stay. We especially loved meeting their cute sheep, alpacas and fluffy cows

A fantastic little find - peaceful, tranquil, lovely friendly hosts - clean, well-equipped accommodation surrounded by beautiful gardens. The smell of country air, the birdsong and the added bonus of feeding the Peking Ducks, Alpacas and Highland cattle with Jenny was just wonderful - loved Smudge, one of the alpacas, and Betty, Beryl and Jaffa, the Highland cattle - a perfect little slice of paradise and only a 5 minute drive to Oamaru's...
