Came here for a tent site and ended up eating both lunch and dinner here. The tent site was super cheap, $15 for two! The facilities are basic but how can you complain at that price. We had epic cheeseburgers for lunch. Extremely fresh and tasty again, well priced! For dinner we had the fish (grilled) and lamb shanks. It was good but not great some vegetables were cold but you sure get a lot for your money. Will definitely pop in every time we pass through from now on!

Second time here and can't wait to for next year. Annual bike run to Ikamatua has made me a lifer, especially having Kim our host at the wheel. The locals are amazing and always ready for some laughs and singalongs. Next year I think karaoke is definitely on the cards. I need to manage my food intake as well since the food is super delicious and hearty.

Great meals. The roast included 9 veges and the Iky burger kept me full for 24 hours! The accommodation is good value. John and his wife make you feel at home. Having a good old fashioned country meal there is a must, if you're traveling by!

We stayed in a little sweet cabin. For $70 nz its wifi was too weak to get to the cabin. The problem was the communal kitchen which was disgusting. Every surface was coated with food scraps. The garbage outside the door was a huge black bin and overflowing so the lid wouldn't stay on. It stank. The floor hadn't been swept for days. There is nowhere else here to stay too bad. Even if I stayed in a tent spot I'd feel ripped off. The bathrooms were clean so that was ok and the shower water was hot. How can hotel standards allow this. Such nice staff, huge dinner roast portions.|But $70 no wifi no kitchen? I looked around the hotel rooms and thought the roast dinners smell permeated the whole place. Its hard if you cycle from Big River but if you...

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good food makes this a 'good value for money' stay at the hotel. Facilities are basic, but it has all you need. We were in the family room which was one room with a double bed, one room with 2 single beds connected to each other with a small bathroom (toilet and shower). They even offer free continental breakfast, tea and coffee. The location is close to Waiuta, a must visit if you're there. It shows the remains of an old gold mine town. There's also a road that connects to Reefton but we haven't...
