Hi there
I am not sure why I did not receive survey for kingston holiday park , 16 kent street, kingston, otago, New Zealand.
It shows there is a selective non transparent review process which is misleading the public by avoiding bad reviews
I am telling that because we had a very bad experience. I don't want others to go through the same.
When we checked in at 9 pm and went to cook the noodles. There was a big cockroach in the bowl.
We were staying for 2 nights . The next morning before going out we went to the reception mentioned to the lady that there was a cockroach in the bowl instead of apologising she said you brought it with your luggage. This was rather unprofessional.
Secondly in every motel the house keeping staff normally come clean up our room change the towels & refill milk tea etc if we are booked for 2 nights unless told not to disturb.
But in kingston holiday park when we came back at 7pm after our sight seeing trips the room was in the same condition as we left . No change of towels and no milk or tea
I called the after hours number and asked why the rooms were not tidy the reply was you came last night and I am handling the motel single handed and didn't get time.
I told her that but we are staying tonight too and we need towel and milk and room is not tidy
She tells me that she had lot of work to do and could'nt do the room. She kept explaining about her work instead of listening and addressing my issue
When I asked for milk and tea I was told I should come and take it from her instead of being apologetic and delivering to the room. She reluctantly came with milk tea & towels
I was upset about the way she treated us . It just bordered on being racist.
I was surprised by her treatment New Zealand is so strict about customer service . We have been here for 17 years and know the standard , rules, policies and our rights as well .
Rules for customers are specific
So we will be taking this to...
Read moreI spent the weekend with my siblings at the Kingston Top10 Holiday Park and I highly recommend it to anyone travelling that way. I stayed in one of their standard cabins, which are dotted around the park, and it had the best bed ever with plenty of blankets, comfy pillows and an electric blanket. The room also had a fan heater, a TV and towels. The shared facilities are fantastic! There is an open plan kitchen, dining room and TV area with a log fire at the end. The kitchen is stocked with all the things you need for cooking, plates, cups and cutlery, and all you need for cleaning up after. They provide stickers to label your items and there were a couple of fridges and freezers. The other end of the building is like a covered outside area with more sinks, lovely big BBQs, 4 huge picnic tables and a big open fire...we spent one of our evenings in this space with the fire going and music playing. Outside there are more picnic tables, a trampoline and a big chess set. The main toilet block is also here and the showers are hot, have good pressure and are free. There is free WiFi, you just have to sign in every day you are there. Right next door is a playground and a tennis court. There is a good store and cafe just across from the camping ground, I went there for coffee after my walk and the cabinet food looked very tempting. Kingston is a beautiful spot and even though its growing it still feels like a sleepy, little town and is close enough to Frankton and Queenstown if you want to go shopping and to restaurants etc. I would definitely stay at Kingston...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome. Management was constantly checking up on us. There are cameras all over the public areas of the park. Throughout the evening it became clear that the management was constantly watching the live feed. It made us all feel exceedingly uncomfortable. At one point they came over and yelled at one of the children with our group for closing a door too hard. It was completely inappropriate and very upsetting. They also complained to us about our dog being in the public areas even though we checked with them ahead of time in regards to bringing the dog and the website clearly states they are “pet friendly” - I can assure you they are anything but. Once the evening had been sufficiently ruined, they awkwardly waited and watched us pack up our things from the common area. Let me be clear- we were not rowdy, and left the park/rooms in pristine condition. There was absolutely no reason for the intrusive behavior of the staff. I think the most disappointing part was the way which the staff treated us. Instead of having a constructive conversation about the kids or the dog, they aggressively berated us as if we were children ourselves. A real shame, as the facilities themselves are actually...
