Probably one of the highlights of the Te Araroa. The lady who runs this lodge is an absolute gem. I started my thru-hike pretty early and was one of the first of the season to stay here. I was all by myself and she made me French Fries and provided a pretty easy and efficient way to clean clothing which is always a challenge. Nice beds in nicely balanced bunk rooms (not too many people in one space). We chatted about life for 5 hours and truly connected in a way I've not experienced in a long time. The next morning she offered to drive me all the way to Christchurch for free so I could catch a but by 9am. Its been months since I've been here but I still think about the amazing hospitality. Regained a lot of faith in humanity here.

If there is something to improve it would be fresh fruits and real coffee for breakfast. For us the mattress wasn't as comfortable...

Not your usual TA accommodation, but we found it well worth the cost and was a highlight of our time...
