avoid this place at all costs.

Kevin is a disgusting mysogynistic creep.

the day we arrived my girlfriend was warned by another guest to be careful as Kevin enters the womens bathroom unannounced when women are showering to try and get a peek. and that's exactly what happend less than an hour later when she went for a shower. he seen her enter the bathroom with her towel etc waited a couple of mins and then entered without so much a knock to let her know someone was there.

he also made several derogatory mysogynistic comments when we were in the kitchen preparing our meals. things like. "what's the point in keeping her if she doesn't even cook your dinner etc"

my partner is a vegan I am not so we prepare our meals separately but even after explaining this Kevin's comments didn't stop. he also made her very uncomfortable whenever he encountered her alone by doing things like tugging on her hair to see if it's real

I feel sorry for Julian his wife as the way he speaks to her in front is disgusting too and she seems to be a very nice lady.

the bathrooms especially the showers are generally in a disgusting state. (my girlfriend spent half an hour cleaning the men's shower so she could shower with me and not have to worry about Kevin sneaking in for a look.

he also turned up banging on our caravan door and yelling with wild and totally unfounded accusations twice during our stay.

The first time to accuse me of trying to break into the coin box in the shower. his logic was that we were the most recent long term guests to arrive so it must be me even though there were several overnight campers who left Early in the morning and we had paid for another full week in advance the day before and been given a stack of 2 dollar coins from Julian when we made payment.

then about a week later came to our caravan again and yelled at me about urine on the bathroom floor. claiming that it had never been a problem before I arrived. and wouldn't even give me the time of day to listen to me explain that regular urine on the floor was something another long term guest told me about the day that we arrived. or that I have been relieving myself at the fenceline Into the neighboring paddock and only using the toilet block when need to sit down or shower. we had also just returned from 2 nights at a hotel in Greymouth so hadn't even been at the camp to make the mess I was being accused of.

but I guess that's what you get from a guy who is so incompetent that he thought that track rolling the potholes in the driveway with a 1.8 ton excavator would compact thr ground sufficiently to support a 4 or 5...

Not a safe place for female travelers!

The worst experience I've had at any accommodation...ever.

Bathrooms are dirty! Disgusting! No lighting for amenities - meaning walking around in the dark! Dangerous! Arbitrary rules! Rubbish bin in kitchen area is the only rubbish bin and it was overflowing after not being emptied for several days. Disgusting! Dogs must be kept on leads (obviously fair) but owners dog roams freely ( unsafe).

Owner Kevin seems to have severe mental health problems. He explained to me in detail how when I shower I need to get undressed, then go over to the sink and run the hot tap until it's coming out hot, then go back to the cubicle, insert the $2 coin and then get in the shower. Only a minute after I entered the bathroom with my towel and shower products, Kevin barged in to the bathroom. Thankfully I did not take his advice and remained dressed until I was in the privacy of the cubicle. He was obviously trying to set up an incident where he caught me naked. I felt so violated. I was too scared to shower there the remaining time that I was there instead opting to shower with my boyfriend in the mens bathroom, as I felt safe with him.

Kevin also went around everyone staying there early one morning and accused each person/couple of tampering with the coin box on the showers. However, when we asked him to check the cameras, he refused.

By the end of our stay we had enough of Kevin's misogynist comments every time he walked past. He found it important to comment on how my boyfriend was cooking, stating that he didn't know why my boyfriend kept me around if I didn't cook for him. Due to health issues and individual diets we cook our separately, which obviously bothered Kevin because it meant more time using the kitchen.

Quite honestly the whole experience of staying at links view was...

It was really easy to find the location, and we were greeted by the owner who gave us a detailed tour on the facilities they have to offer, the place was very clean, and no sandflies we noticed, the washing machine and dryer was excellent and we made full use of it with the sun shining.

As recommended, we visited the jetty of eels, and my wife go a whale of a time feeding them, the eels we no where to be found, but once a tiny chunk of bread hits the water, they begin to emerge from under the jetty and the aquatic plants, smart fella aren't they. No fishing for these slimy buggers by the way.

The shower facilities was very well maintained, and coin operated shower for hot water, no complains there.

We felt a bit warm as the vehicles was parked facing the wind and we did not get to feel the cooling breeze blown into our campervan, but nevertheless, we have not much issue sleeping away, road noise was minimal surprisingly as they are just a stones throw away from the road.

Do be careful of the electrified fence when visiting the jetty for eels, as children might not be aware of the danger, we did not test the potency of the electric fence by the way, not wanting to make a shocking discovery.

The campsite is all gravel and no issue with muddy campsite if it rains, but it does blow up a dust cloud occasionally due to sudden gust of wind, well; we cannot win all can`t we?

Maybe we can suggest the owner to plant some trees to provide some shade for users, and to add more greenery to the campsite.

But overall we like the location and simplistic layout.

Keep up...

We are sitting here in locked down Melbourne, Australia; approx. 12 months removed from our one night stay at Links View; reminiscing on good times. Attached is a map that Kevin hand drew for 2 people he had known for a few hours. We went on to travel over Takaka Hill and experience the wonders of the Abel Tasman. I can't explain what a gracious host he was or appropriately express the "home away from home" vibe he has created with his beautiful place in the world. You simply have to spend some time here yourself to understand. (also the other reviews are correct - this is the cleanest caravan park in the history of planet earth and the cosmos). Best wishes Kevin - hope all is well with you and yours in these difficult times.

Definitely recommend staying here. The place is small and new and run by a lovely welcoming couple. The main facility area in the middle feels a little like home; very comfy and warm, kitchen is fully equipped and you can buy fresh eggs from their farm. The bathroom has a shower ($2 for 5 mins, bring $2 coins) with a bath mat (such a luxury!) and hand towels - very homey. The couple were quick to recommend places to us around Hokitika and in the evening they were sitting around with guests giving them recommendations and tips for the rest of their trip around the South Island. The grass areas are all flat and soft for camping on too. Will definitely come back!
