Stayed here for a night on my month long campervan drive in NZ and I would not recommend this campground. The toilets were the worst toilets we have seen here in NZ (smelly, been a while since they were emptied and the ground around the toilets were also dirty) we contemplated leaving and finding another campground. Otherwise it is fine, the gravel is in bad condition on the drive in which can be a concern for people driving rentals but it was a short gravel drive, which also means that the road was visible and audible from the campground. Beautiful nature though and tons of wekas which is always fun.

R and I stopped off here. It was a possible camping ground. We parked and walked across the bridge and several hundred meters of the Old Ghost Road. The walk is quite spectacular, lots of ferns and lichens, steep drops down the gorge into the river. There was the sound of bird song, but few birds showed themselves to by lens other than a Robin. Going the other way you can walk down into the gorge. Did we camp, no, the sand flies put an end to that. We were being eaten alive. So 5* for the location, and 3* for the camping because of sandflies

Stopped at camping ground for the 10 minute walk to the cemetery. Make sure you wear good foot wear, the path is rocky and narrow. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my short hike as I met up with a small wildlife family. Thought best to turn around and leave the family to their grazing.

Internet speed test results ona. sunny day using an iPhone 15 Pro, connected to 4G, Vodafone NZ): Download speed: 6.5 Mbps Latency (unloaded): 82 ms Latency (loaded): 334 ms Upload speed: 0.41 Mbps The camping ground has two levels, the first one is pre parking and the 2nd one (lower) was the parking. I took the test on the lower level and browsing was barely feasible. On the upper level the test results were double of the results on the lower level and the browsing experience was...
