No one was available in office on arrival and a note was left for us on the window with directions to our chalet and our stay. In the chalet were directions about the property and a note stating that we should not hesitate to talk to them if they could be of help in any way. When we found that the TV remote did not work, there was no milk, only one tea bag, we sent text messages to both mobile numbers mentioned. No reply was received. Later in the afternoon a man named “Ross”, apparently the caretaker, came to the chalet and stated that the correct TV remote was missing and that it was his fault that milk was not in the room as they have left milk previously and it went off. We asked about using the washing machine, which was free, but virtually no washing powder was available. He said he would get more powder tomorrow. When we went to bed we found that the bed had been short sheeted, with the top sheet fitted sideways. We had to remake the bed. We also found a used towel hanging behind the bedroom door. When we went to do washing the next afternoon, we found that no more washing powder was available. All these issues by themselves are minor, but being so many seems to indicate that the premises are lacking attention. Apart from all the above issues, the chalet very comfortable and spacious. It is in a lovely location...
Read moreThere are some positives & negatives to this property.|The pool & spa are fantastic - the highlight for our family. Because of its location it is secluded & quiet & there are some nice views, but only from certain spots & the surrounding bush is quite overgrown. The grounds were not exceptionally well kept & likely if owners were onsite more this may change. For our family of four the Chalets were too small. There wasn’t sufficient seating for evening TV watching. The 2nd room (with a double bed) was very small. The other downfall was there was no cooling. The owners very kindly offered a fan, however in the summer heat it was uncomfortable at times. The rest of the chalet was sufficient, although a change of both bathroom & kitchen towels on day (3 of 5) would have been nice. Overall it was ok but we would look at more options before choosing to stay again. A nice break...
Read moreWe booked well in advance for these popular chalets set in the bush up a hill and a couple of kms from downtown Mapua. When we booked there were only two of us and this would have been perfect. We had a third family member with us so the pull out bed in the lounge area was used but this was not a problem. The chalet is well equipped and we particularly loved having our own deck with private BBQ, table and chairs. The bird life was fantastic with a visiting tui every day. We were only a few steps from the spa and beautiful swimming pool with glorious view overlooking Nelson. There was also a laundry on site. Wouldn't hesitate to book this again. ...
