I have been driving to the Marlborough Sounds several times a year consistently since 2007. Each and every time I will have driven past this fine establishment and neglected the opportunity to stop for a moment and take in the serenity that this space occupies. Today was different, due to a few lifestyle changes I am now relaxed than ever and lept at the opportunity to stop and sit down for 5 minutes. I was blown away by the hospitality offered here. First of all the setting is fantastic, it appears to be surrounded by a diverse range of New Zealands native trees, the internal setting appears to be well thought out. A fire occupies the centre providing a warm heart with a couch positioned in front I can imagine myself spending many hours here. The coffee made for us (I ordered a regular flatwhite) was extracted beautifully with the layer of milk not too thick and of an appropriate temperature. The furniture was very comfortable and along with the choice of music playing I felt as though time stood still. A very pleasant experience and I'll be sure to stop by again. Also the house dog was very friendly and quite adorable sitting...
Read moreWe booked this accommodation as it had a restaurant on site. The restaurant closed at 4pm, and there was little left in the cabinet. Fortunately we had sandwiches left from lunch. The site is miles from anywhere and there is nowhere to go for an evening meal. The units are very comfortable and spotless. It was well equipped but we had really wanted self-catering for breakfast and anticipated eating out for dinner. ||You cannot park outside the unit to unload and so it is not disabled friendly. There are no ramps into the units and they are wheel chair unfriendly. Furthermore payment had to be made upfront. There is a run down tennis court and a couple of basketball hoops on the same ground. There is a vast open area around the units. ||On the morning we left we wanted to have a cooked breakfast at the Restaurant. It was closed at 8.45 am. ||Wifi not consistent. One night none at all and no way to connect with the owners.||We are not surprised that this site is for sale. A lot more could be done to make it more...
Read moreMy friends booked me in as they were already staying here and had been here before. This is a former logging camp now revamped into well appointed self catering cottages. I have two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. Every thing is spotless and comfortable. TV, wifi and a restaurant on site. The location is beautiful in the mountains not far from Nelson. I'd say it is less than an hour into Nelson and a beautiful drive. Very quiet with lots of scenic beauty in this corner of NZ. Quiet, restful. This would be a great place for a retreat, conference,...
