Despite all the positive reviews I’m afraid we did not have this for very correctable reasons on behalf of management.
It is stated that check out is strictly at 10am on the bathrooms and on the reservation.
However, we have been traveling for 2 months in New Zealand and there is no where stating that you have to leave the premises at that time. Often we check out on time and use the kitchen moment later to prepare our lunch for the trip. When we handed over our keys (9:55am), we told them we would use the kitchen to have brekfast and the lady did not say anything to us.
When we were in the kitchen in the middle of preparation (10:15am) they asked us at what time we would be done. I then asked why the question and they said because they need to clean the kitchen. I said we would be done as soon as possible, and the lady game me a very condescending comment: it’s time for you to go!
And left, we were so confused by this attitude and started wrapping up. Later on another lady came over and said I’m sorry but we have to clean the kitchen… so I confronted her and told her:
If you are so strict on your time you should mention clearly that you need to leave the place at check out time. Also, there is no empathy with the fact that it was pouring rain that morning (and it stopped raining at 9am)… if we knew we were going to be kicked out we would have made a greater effort to get ourselves wet to go to the showers and kitchen facilities, but as we never expected this attitude on behalf of management we were chill considering that we could continue using the premises after check out time.
I fully understand you can choose to do whichever rules you want in your property, but the lack of clarity, preciseness on your message and on top of that treatment is not very kiwi like.
After basically being kicked out. We even stood inside the car for 3 minutes organizing our stuff and setting our GPS, and they were still asking if we have already left and making us feel like fugitives.
We booked directly with the property otherwise I would have left this bad experience on other platforms as well.
But the fix is simple, correct your message and specify that check out is leaving the premises. Correct your attitude towards people and also be direct and transparent… this feeing could have easily been avoided if simply we would have been told we couldn’t use the kitchen by the time we gave the keys back.
Hope this review helps others to be aware and to not leave with a very bitter...
Read moreI recently stayed at this motorhome park, and while the location and facilities were generally fine, I had an unfortunate experience that I feel needs to be addressed.
I encountered an interaction with the owner that left me uncomfortable. After a previous guest had cooked lamb chops in the shared kitchen, I opened the windows and doors to ventilate the space, as the smell of grease had lingered. The owner then came by and remarked that my culture might not be used to the smell of meat, and made a comparison to curry smells when Indian guests cook. I found this comment to be racially insensitive and unnecessary, as the issue at hand was simply about proper ventilation and not cultural preferences.
While I understand the importance of maintaining the kitchen space, comments like this feel dismissive and perpetuate stereotypes. I would hope that future guests, regardless of their background, feel welcome and comfortable when addressing basic concerns about shared spaces.
It’s important for hospitality businesses to ensure their environments are respectful and inclusive for everyone. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for others...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this holiday park. We stayed on a powered site; it was the most beautiful setting. The grounds are so well maintained. The facilities are great. Some people might not like that the showers are on a timer / set temperature system where you just push a button, but they are free and the temperature was great so suited us! Everything was always spotlessly clean. The fact you have access to two swimming holes from the property is such a bonus. Beware, the bumble bees were out in force at this time of the year (February), so you’ll need screens on your windows otherwise you’ll have mates for your...
