We found this amazing place by the name which appealed to us. I'm doing my bucket list and visiting Oamaru and surrounding places which were .my growing years happy times. This trip was our second down in 2 weeks. The first time down we stayed one only very expensive night to see the penguins which we couldn't as so dark and the area was just like an overgrown parking place with lots of road noises. Next two nights we went to another camping place and every two hours during the night the train could be heard. So close... it was as if it was going to come through our caravan. Broken sleep and not relaxing.|Well, this trip we came to Old Bones and a congenial host welcomed us. So peaceful & tranquil so quiet and to fall asleep listening to the sound of the ocean was amazing. The immaculate surroundings soothed me and recharged my inner spirit and was an escape from the reality that I'm on borrowed time. Definitely soul food. I feel so blessed to have had the privileged to stay in this hidden treasure, & hope I can live long enough to return again. It’s like "a run to a place to shut out reality and the rest of the world" which is hard to deal with at the present time||Yours...

We booked a hot tub when the weather was really cold and wet and windy and Grant was amazed but there is nothing better than sitting in a hot tub in bas weather and just enjoying the view. Grant was full of local knowledge and we went on a hunt along the beach for the dump site and any old moa bones. |We were camping in a non-powered site and used the facilities on occasion. |It is closed enough to go for day trips to Elephant Rocks and Duntroon, to Moeraki and to just head into Oamaru for a wander around all the sights there and grab a bite to eat in the Criterion Hotel ( the most haunted hotel in NZ ... apparently!)|Loved the place and highly...

Old Bones lodge had everything we could of possibly thought of-from amazing surroundings-the beach ,the stream ,the park like grounds ,the views ,the wonderful hosts, the lovely bathroom amenties-just made us want to come return on our way back up the South island-this time with our two new little Border Collie puppies as well and once again ,was thrilled to find it just as amazing as...
