Oxford Holiday Cottage — Hotel in South Island

We spent two weeks in this cottage in November 2024 while visiting family in Waimakariri. What a lovely country retreat it was! Beautiful mountain views from the windows, emerald-green grass and 3 steers and 17 chickens to watch - the happiest and healthiest animals we have ever seen (they are very much part of the family). Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. Inside the cottage was tastefully decorated, giving a warm happy feeling. And it was physically very warm too! The host is a builder and he has a lot to be proud of with this cottage as it is not only beautiful but very well insulated. On two cold evenings we used the log fire - which added to the cosy cottage feel. This is such a good place to get away from city life stress. Stay at least a few days and let the rural life soak in!
