Pā Tōrea Beach Stay — Hotel in South Island

Absolutely incredible stay here. We would happily exceed 5* rating all round if we could. Emily was so friendly, welcoming, and really went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. The yurt is so cosy, even during a cold early-spring thunderstorm we were so comfortable & warm & greatly enjoyed the excuse to stay in the yurt all day! It's clearly well thought out, with everything you need (+some). It's clean, neat, spacious & very homely. Easy to air out and get cool too. Just such a beautifully made space inside and out. Direct access to the beach, kayaking, a fire-pit, a bbq, a bath under the stars & a hot sunrise shower in the outside bath. Once in a lifetime experiences. A few cheeky wekas & chicks gave us a good laugh too. Quiet, serene & secluded (but also great phone signal), & a lovely little local area to explore. We would love to come back in summer, but as a winter get-away it was also absolutely perfect. We couldn't have wished for...

Pā Tōrea is an absolute gem of a spot! The yurt is SO cool as is the outdoor bath/rain shower. The kitchen set-up is great (fridge, small freezer compartment, all cooking essentials, BBQ etc.) and the breakfast items on offer were more than sufficient. The yurt and grounds were very tidy and comfy and also quiet and secluded. It was lovely being able to listen to the birds and waves in the evening and morning. The huge beach is also great and a fab spot for birding. The location is very handy as it's very close to Collingwood and the Mussel Inn and close enough to use as a base for places such as Takaka, the Whanganui Inlet, and Farewell Spit. Emily & Grant are both super friendly and chill and were very helpful and nice to talk with. I can't think of any negatives to say and definitely...

We had an absolutely relaxing, wonderful & unique birthday break in Emily & Grant's delightful yurt...with the gentle rolling waves lulling us off to sleep in a very comfy bed. Everything we needed was supplied along with some thoughtful touches - beers & bubbly, chocs, herbal teas & locally roasted coffee....the outdoor firepit with ready chopped dry wood, the sumptuous outdoor bath with fairylights & bubbles & infinite hot water....not forgetting the bonus of freshly caught schnapper, thanks Grant. Emily & Grant were perfect hosts, friendly & interesting, there if you want them but not at all intrusive. We will...
