I booked this place over the phone and the guy on the phone was very rude when booking it. I booked it for my girlfriend and myself for a nice break away without the kids over the long weekend, just one night Saturday till Sunday. I reseved a phone on the Thursday night asking what time in checking in, I said i booked for the Saturday for the one night, he said i booked it for 3 night, he said see you saturday and he put the phone down on me. On arrive to the camp grounds to check in the lady behide the desk was very rude and said to me that she gave the room i had booked to someone else, as the credit card number I gave them was wrong! If it was wrong why not phone me, this is the worse server I've every had. but there was a silver lining from the camp grounds next door Karamea holiday Park, great place to stay and lovely people. I feel like they tried to rip me off, first they tried to charge me for three night when it was only one and then when old mate took my card number (he can't take phone books) and got my card number wrong when i asked him to send me a email of confirmation he said he was to busy to...

Room smelt strange - rather than being well aired - it had two stinky toxic air fresheners - yuck. Otherwise was clean, although litter on the ground outside around the cabin. No tap in room or nearby - have to walk to kitchen to get water to make a cup of tea. No bin in the room(?). Fridge never turns off.||Showers high pressure, but water savings heads should be installed. No bench for sitting while dressing - near impossible to get into clothes dry. only 2 toilets for men and 3 for woman - not sure how it copes when it is busy.||No extractor fans in kitchen for any of the cookers - pretty unhealthy. No recycle bins on site, nor a compost bin for food waste, paper, etc. We really need all businesses to do their part for the environment. Erosion along front of site pretty bad - needs repair sooner rather than later..||Nice not to have wifi in rooms or tv - but then why high price tag ($85) - certainly make 2nd night cheaper as you don't have to clean after 1st night? tv room was in with the kitchen and only seats for 6 - a separate room would be...

Loved it here, stayed five nights. Lee - Anne the owner, feeds the Tui birds, morning and afternoons with sweet water, a sight worth seeing. There is a beautiful bush walk and also a Seal and her pup, down on the beach. An added extra, you can order fresh bread for delivery the next day from "2 Birds Baking", they deliver it to your accomodation. We note the place is up for sale, what a beautiful, manageable, quaint little place to purchase - right by the Bay - stunning!!!!

What an amazing camp. The only sound you will hear will be the native birds chirping away, the distant sound of the waves. Very close to Owaka, 3ks away. I believe it can be busy in the summer, but we stayed here for 2 nights, then changed to 4 nights. So peaceful. Lea Anne, camp owner, was so good to deal with. Great bush walk to do from camp, and at low tide, you can walk around the reserve till you pop out on the beach. Look for the mud crops and watch for sea lions.

Pretty old facilities. Bathroom is not cleaned very often even the sign saying it’s cleaned daily, showers are good, though. Rubbish skip bins are always full and you need to play Tetris to make rubbish fit inside. Laundry machines cannot be used in the morning which is a bit silly. Otherwise the campground is nice and comfortable and very quiet
