We had the pleasure of staying on Julie & Tony's farm as part of our South Island tour.
They were incredibly hospitable and were quick to respond and help ensure we were welcomed with an in-person greeting (provided us the option of a more non-personal check-in/stay). The flat itself was a separate, standalone unit with a full kitchen, living room, large bedrooms, and a balcony and accompanying hot tub. Julie & Tony had chocolates and snacks in the kitchen for our arrival and included some milk, pancake mix, and other lite items for breakfast for the following morning (all included).
The view from the flat was stunning and overlooked kilometers of beautiful scenery. Our hosts had a complimentary farm tour available for guests, which we took advantage of. The tour consisted of a walk around the farm and opportunities to feed Sheep, Pigs, Alpacas, and Cows. We also got an awesome demo of their dogs herding some of the farm animals!
The farm is very close to Lake Tekapo, which we took advantage of in the evening and morning. There is a hot pool star gazing service available in the Lake Tekapo area; however Julie told us we'd have the same views, but more of an intimate experience, from the hot-tub and wouldn't need to pay the associated fees which are around 100 NZD per person - so that was a great saver!
We also got some recommendations for dinner and lunch. Some of New Zealand's finest, fresh pies can be enjoyed at Fairlie Bakehouse - we headed there before leaving the area and heading to Mount Cook.
Overall it was an incredible stay and the service and hospitality provided was truly first class. Will definitely be returning on our next trip the...

🛁 By night, soak in a rustic outdoor wooden tub under a sky full of stars. With no light pollution, you’ll see constellations—and even the Milky Way—with stunning clarity. 🔥 The cabin itself is handcrafted from wood—warm, cozy, and welcoming. There’s a wood-burner for chilly nights, and a simple kitchen if you want to cook. Your hosts even provide fresh eggs and local sheep milk—natural, wholesome goodness straight from the farm.

Read moreThe most amazing farm stay we have experienced. Unlike other farm stays, we are allowed to be inside the compound with some of the animals. My 2,5 and 19 year old totally enjoy feeding Lulu, 3 day old lamb a bottle of milk. We spent some time with the resident pig who lives right in front of the beautiful cabin. We fed all the animals and came close the alpacas. They were so gentle and lovely. We watched the sheep dog round up the sheep. Julie took us on a tour around every corner of the farm including the electric gate and the sheep sheering hut. I love the vegetable garden setup . Julie was so kind to give me a fresh beetroot. The kids enjoyed the outdoor heated jacuzzi pool. The accommodation deserve 7 stars ! The heating was lovely, the view was spectacular , the kids enjoyed the Lego and DUPLO. The milk and cookies were wonderful super even for the adults. I can’t say enough ! Thank you for making our trip so memorable. Julie and Tony were excellent host. If you don’t want to cook, there is a Fish and Chips place at Fairlie next to the playground. Highly...
