Whare Kea Lodge & Chalet - Wanaka — Hotel in South Island

Simply heaven on earth. Whare Kea is in just the most beautiful and jaw-dropping spot on lake Wānaka teeming with wildlife and far-reaching views - the lodge enjoys total privacy yet still is just a short walk along the lake to all the restaurants and everything else the town has on offer. The team at Whare Kea headed up by Gillian created a bespoke holiday for us that we will never forget filled with the most amazing outdoor adventures (heli - hiking up into Mount Aspiring / Siberia experience including a plane into a remote and stunning location / a picnic lunch and hike and then jet boat home / canoeing in the rapids / a day out e-biking ) to name just a few of what’s on offer in the summer months !! This then balanced with utter luxury and spoiling back at the lodge including (delicious home cooked breakfasts from Carol and Pavla / at home Japanese dinners created for us by Take and the most divine massages from Sonia not to mention the five star housekeeping and laundry services. We honestly felt at home and welcomed like friends and family on one hand with the luxury and attention to detail found in a 6 star hotel on the other. Thank you all so much - we had a total ball and we hope to be back again one day maybe to sample all that Whare Kea offers in the winter - I can already imagine that beautiful...

Whare Kea is a superb luxury venue located on the lake looking north to the town on Mt Aspiring Road. The Lodge Manager can organize activities like e-MTB, white water kayaking and heli-hiking (a must try activity, if you like true wilderness hiking!). Its easy access to Wanaka for dinners out, or use the commercial kitchen and hire a chef. The rooms with en-suites and walk in robes are large with direct access to the lakeside lawns and the spa/hot-tub. The snooker table and fireplace make Whare Kea a special place to stay. Also try a night up at The Chalet (1700m), an off-the-grid remote luxury experience with amazing hikes, heli-skiing and stunning views...

Whare Kea Lodge is an absolutely stunning spot. It's far enough out of town to gain privacy while being close enough to still be convenient.
