Woodpecker Hut - Canopy Camping Escapes — Hotel in South Island

WOW. Just wow. What an incredible get away spot for a relaxing retreat. We went here for two nights during our honeymoon and were blown away. We wish we booked for longer! The wood fire hot tub was so much better than expected, and we enjoyed it in the rain with stunning sunset views over the ocean as the wild west coast waves crashed into the scenic rocky cliffs.

The outdoor kitchen and dining space was so much fun, and gave it a kiwi camping vibe (especially with the friendly Wekas coming up to say hello) while still having the luxury of a beautiful indoor lounging area well heated with a small log burner, and the beautiful cosy bedroom with a heater - the robes were such a nice added touch too. I am giving 3 stars for a very specific reason. In general the stat was amazing- perfect location, completely isolated, clean, beautiful and cozy! Perfect The one downside is the customer experience. There is a 50$ one night surcharge for canopy camping escapes. I don’t think the price of the cleaning fees should be on the customer. If renting the place out for one night is not profitable enough- then don’t rent it out for one night. If you got stuck with a single night window- either block the one night, or take the cleaning fees out...
