My husband and I held our small wedding here this month and we cannot speak more highly of this incredible team! From our initial conversations right through till after the day Sam, Sandy, Alex and Jaz have absolutely exceeded all expectations. They helped to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere where nothing was a problem and everything was catered to how we would like it. The food Sandy cooked was so delicious, the drinks plentiful and Alex was a wiz with the cocktails, Sam made the place look perfect and was so accommodating with seating etc. to ensure we could make the most of the weather (and the shade!), Jaz made planning the day a breeze and even busted out a delicious chocolate wedding cake for us! We had family and friends staying for multiple days and they couldnt stop raving about the welcoming hospitality the entire time. Cant recommend enough. Plus we pop down there for meals and drinks and always receive the same friendly service and delicious food to back it up. Just 100/100. We...
Read moreThank you!!! We got to attend the dinner because they took the trouble to pick us up!! The driver was their family friend, Jo, who happen to be a rally car driver and a fly fisherwomen! To talk about attendance in style!! We were on our 2nd day of cycling - a bit shaken after the cliff hanger 40km Level 3 Lake Dunstance experience the day before, followed by a contrasting Otago rail trail 45km Level 1 ride next day to Lauder on 13/4/23. My tight stomach soon turned normal after being driven through the classic historic Opir stone bridge, passing through some neat stone buildings like the post office and general store … How about ending the night with something special from the south? The Blue Cod simply melted in my mouth! I later learnt that only lucky people from the South Island got to eat them!! The Central Otago Lamb was so juicy and tender!! Certainly my best meal experience for the whole trip!! Thank you! You certainly made my day! I can’t thank...
Read moreCame in for lunch one afternoon. First impression was cute place, liked the eclectic atmosphere. Then when I sat down, I literally found 3 hairs just sitting on my table. One of them was very long and just laying there in plain sight. A bit off-putting, but I rolled with it. Service was a bit off. No utensils or napkins served with a messy burger, barman rushed my order and kept walking away when I tried to talk to him, even though I was one of only 2 tables in an otherwise empty place. The "black beauty" burger was tasty, but served on a bun that was too soft for all the piled-high contents — when you bite into it, it's so soggy and flat that everything comes flopping out the other side. A big mess, especially without any napkins or even a fork. It was a yummy burger, though. Would I return again? Eh, maybe if there's no place else...
