The property is excellently maintained. No detail is overlooked. The rooms are modestly decorated with local tourist items for a field that is truly unique and Ireland modern. I appreciated the attention to minimizing waste on all fronts, from the pretty little bottles, holding conditioner and shampoo in the shower to the drinking water in repurposed glass bottles with corks and accompanying metal tumblers around the property. Our family of four adults stayed in the treehouse, using both rooms. The treehouse has a beautiful view of the patio area. The mattresses were firm and comfortable. My favorite locally sourced item was the handmade blanket on the bed, from a small family textiles co-op in Leon. All the decor is minimal and island modern. The service from the staff was exceptional. Both dinner meals we ate during our stay were excellent and we enjoyed breakfast as well. Having kayaks available to get out for a paddle was a nice option and we did a morning outing as a family. This isn’t a critique against the property because it cannot be helped, but a guest should know in advance that since there are 25 mango trees on this tiny island, mangoes drop from the trees on average every 2 minutes. You need to be aware that one could fall on your head. Also, mangoes continue to drop all night long and onto the tin and terra cotta roofing, it is very loud. Since the treehouse rooms are “open”, you can not silence the noise.

We had a wonderful two night stay! Everything was absolutely perfect. Every meal we had was so delicious, and I particularly loved the lemongrass (grown in their local garden) iced tea. We went net fishing, which was fun to try, and they offered to prepare our lunch with our freshly caught fish - we loved that. I celebrated my birthday there and they included a special touch with a sign wishing me a happy birthday at dinner along with a dessert - it was so thoughtful. The room was cozy and view was amazing! We also got a couple massage, which was a great experience! The entire staff was so lovely and welcoming. We will absolutely be coming back and will be highly recommending to all our friends and family.

A truly magical experience!!! Isleta El Espino is one of those rare places that take your breath away. It is the perfect combination of sustainable luxury and being out in nature. After visiting for the first time in 2016, we knew we had to come back someday. We returned with a group of 5 couples and had the most incredible vacation on the island. Between boat tours, yoga, massages, kayaking, and relaxing by the pool, we never ran out of things to do and the staff was accommodating to everything we needed. And everything we ate was exceptional! The ingredients were so fresh and prepared with care. I still dream about this place and would give 10 stars if I could!

Isleta El Espino is nothing short of paradise. Although my family is originally from the U.S., we now live in Nicaragua, and this has been the most memorable experience we’ve had here. The view of Volcán Mombacho is absolutely breathtaking—especially from the pool, where you feel completely immersed in nature’s beauty. The boutique hotel is intimate, featuring two cabins, a bungalow, and two upstairs rooms with spectacular views. Your stay begins with a private boat ride to the island, where you’re welcomed with a refreshing glass of fresh fruit juice. The staff, all locals from the surrounding islands, are exceptionally knowledgeable and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. On our final day, we weren’t quite ready to leave, so we extended our stay until 3:30 p.m. for $20 per person, which was consumable toward food and drinks. I truly can’t recommend this place...

I booked the entire island for an intimate birthday celebration with some of my closest friends and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The attention to detail and thoughtful touches throughout the island and rooms made us feel like we were truly in an island paradise. The setting, directly across from the impressive Mombacho Volcano gave all of us multiple "pinch me" moments as we gathered at the pool or deck and looked across the lake. The delicious family-style meals each day were the highlight of our days. The staff that took care of us were consummate professionals, staying attentive to us as we lounged and gathered, but also knowing when we wanted quiet and privacy. There was no request they said "no" to. What a magical 2 nights we had Isleta el Espino. Andrew and Kristin have created a special oasis that, though you're literally only minutes from the city of Granada, once you're on the island, you'll feel like you're...
