Hostal nathaly — Hotel in Ometepe Island

First, there is no mention that this is a family home with extra rooms on the booking site. There are three children, so people should be aware... however, the children are polite, family is very nice, but it is good to know before hand. Also, this place is part of a collective tourism group in La Paloma (just outside Moyogalpa)... they are offering rooms at Nica family houses. We liked this, but check the website as it might be less expensive than booking on a separate site that is a directory... can't confirm that, but we got the impression we were paying more than others.||||Rooms are spotless and well maintained. The water didnt always work in the washroom which otherwise was very nice. Wifi was not always available but we think it was tethered to Franklin's phone? We found out the last night there is a common area a block away that sold refreshments and had free wifi. The day we left though, Franklin was installing a new tower to deliver wifi, so we think it will be available all of the time from the actual property by the time you get there. The room advertises a/c but it didnt work for us... we didnt say anything because the fans worked fine for us, so maybe we missed something.||||The hosts are very nice and had a place for us to park our scooter rental and a place to do laundry. We really liked this place and the location was great for us. Franklin offered great advice and spoke enough English to communicate well with us. Breakfasts (included) were good with amazing fresh juice in the morning. We ate dinner with them twice which included typical Nica food, we love local food and actually seek it out. Dinner was U$6 a plate but was less expensive on the site the hostel was listed on. Not a big deal and a minimal difference.||||All in all, this place offers a excellent value for clean and comfortable lodging. We stayed for 5 nights in June 2016. We are a couple. ||The Hostal is located on the outskirts of Moyogalpa, which is fine, if like us you rent a scooter or have your own transport. Otherwise you can walk or take a bici-taxi. ||The place is more of a home stay than anything as you are part of the family home. At least we felt that we were as we had the room next to their kitchen. Be prepared for a bit of farm life, all sorts of animals, cockerels crowing, kids running about and a talking parrot! ||The rooms are very basic but clean and there are some hammocks and parking spaces available. There is no hot water which is mostly ok, but we had some rainy weather and would have enjoyed a hot shower, but that's just the way it is! ||Generous breakfasts are included. You can request meals from the family for a very reasonable price and it is nice simple home cooked food.||Wifi worked Ok, we were surprised. ||The owner Franklin and his wife were very kind and welcoming, he picked us up and dropped us off to the port, organised a scooter hire and they both gave local recommendations. Had a good stay. First thing you should know is the hostel is located about 15-20 minute walk from the main st. On Moyogalpa. Me and a friend rented bikes which made goin back and forth to town was a lot less challenging. The power and the water was out for literally half the time we spent at the hostel itself( not sure why but it was persistent). Makin your relaxing time a lot less enjoyable if ya cant take a shower or use internet freely. Clean rooms and a nice family though. Good free breakfast that they cook every morning. Good...
