It's sad what they have done to this place. My first time back here since Transcorp Hilton sold it. Do not be deceived that you are returning to the hotel you always knew:
Check-in Made and paid for my reservation online through their website. Got there and they said I should have emailed them. That rooms are not available. They gave me a room when I complained that I should not have to send them an email when I already booked and paid for my reservation online on their website.
Room One of the blinds was torn. No toilet paper or towels in the room. We called for towels and waited two hours without towels coming, even though they promised they would bring them immediately. Two hours later, we called again and the towels felt like they were just coming out of the laundry machine. This was at 6PM and not in the middle of the night.
Food Continental and intercontinental breakfast is no longer available. I am vegan and they had nothing both in their breakfast menu and restaurant menu that is vegan. For breakfast they had boiled potato, goat head sauce, and porridge beans. Wow! What a local hotel. Oh, they didn't have any juices either For breakfast, only water. Coffee isn't brewed coffee but nescafe instant coffee. No coffee drinker actually drinks nescafe instant coffee. It is nasty!
For dinner, I asked for boiled or fried yam, they didn't have. I asked for plantains, they didn't have. No almond or soy milk. No pasta! I'll be doubtful if they still have professional chefs in their employment.
Hallways and lobby Felt like I was in a cheap budget motel. On my first night, the hallways were smelling cigarette smoke. Someone smoked freely in their rooms and hallways. On the second day, the whole hotel was oozing with weed. From the lobby and the hallways, it felt like there was a weed (marijuana) party that just happened. Then on my floor, there was loud music going on in one of the rooms with much traffic going there. I had enough and had to check out.
The Metro for sure has lost my business and all the international partners I've sent there over the years. I decided to share this detailed review so that you are not surprised when you experience any of...
