This hotel used to be a five star hotel, i visited the hotel first in 2012, and at that time, it was a five star hotel and resort, and being maged by foreigners (whites, i guess lebanese), so at that time, the hotel environment was so clean, many tourists fly in from different parts of Nigeria and beyond just to come and relax, have good time with friends and family, then communicate with nature, because the resort was built close to river Niger, and the construction of the resort is so amazing, that they built the hotel, until the premise entered the river, and from a particular stop, you can as well board a cruise boat to take you round the middle of river Niger, of which Nigeria was named after, and later back to the resort, at that point the hotel had a very strong management, and they really maintain the resort well and keep everywhere clean, the rooms were also well furnished and decorated. Down the line after 10 years, i and my wife travelled to Asaba, and on a bid to get a good place to lodge, we went there, and to my greatest supprise, almost everything there has dilapidated, beside the swimming pools, out door bars and the chinese restaurant, beside these sections, every other thing doesn't worth the fees, the rooms still has the same furnitures, beds, interior etc. and the environment dirty, the cruise boats grounded, so the management needs to upgrade by renovating this great resort. And some natural trees and cultural...
Read moreA great resort. The ONLY way this edifice can be profitable is to welcome LOTS OF FOREIGN TOURISTS and not just business people or traders spending the night in Asaba. To get foreign exposure which it was obviously built to host, ASABA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MUST RECEIVE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS.
Some hotel facilities are getting older and maintenance seem to be a big challenge for hotel management. Perhaps because income has become a challenge. I wish the owner finds other ways to make money instead of simply waiting for people to come and spend one or two nights in their rooms or host a wedding reception.
Since they have good landmass, Innovation such as building a fantastic water-park similar to the picture incorporated into their swimming pools will attract fun-seekers and tourists to the place. Their river Niger boat ride is so poorly advertised that i only knew about it from one of the maids. They could also make a little white sand area for beach volleyball or children playground. They must consider other outdoor activities & ways of staying in business by attracting people to come and seek fun at the location or to bring children for weekend fun at the place. Rather than simply competing with the numerous hotels in Asaba for few businessmen looking to spend one or two nights in...
Read moreI was slightly disappointed to stay here when I visited the new Best Western hotel which is really modern & beautiful. However, in context this was a nice hotel - air con rooms, hot water for shower, flat screen tv, king size bed. Breakfast could include some additional options for children & adults who enjoy more western traditional food - even if not included in the buffet, there should be an option to order this. Staff constantly want tips which can be annoying but I guess it's to be expected with low wages. The grounds are nice to walk around, the children's park would need some safety & maintenance work carried out though. I would stay here again if Best Western was unavailable - it's central, spacious rooms & power outages don't last too long, felt secure. Wifi is very...
