I have read a couple of reviews on The Wellington hotel but my wife and I had a very terrible and an all too traumatic experience. In all fairness this hotel is in dire need of a total facelift, it needs to be shut down and a proper revamping of the entire hotel it’s rooms and the toilets as well as the reception area.More to the point these are the perennial failings we discovered and were exposed to:
The room allocated to us had mice and rat residues on the floor. The fridge stank and was very dirty. The bed sheets and the duvet cover had evident stains on them. The table and bed side lamp stand were filthy and riddled with dust. The shower and toilet are in a very awkward and unsafe position to use. The shower and toilet were dirty. The communal areas leading to the hotel rooms were dark, dreary and so unappealing and very unattractive. The hotel rooms are too old, unsafe and there are health and safety issues to address. Please throw your room towels away - if that is what you call white towels it is a commercial disgrace. The customer service from some of the staff was so lousy and not worth further comments on paper. The ceilings in the reception area appear like they would collapse anytime soon. People may enjoy the external views, the pool and the great expanse of land but surely do not want to spend the night in a dark, dreary, mice infested and unhygienic environment with their loved ones. The maintenance culture is very poor and is perpetually taking a predictive nose dive.
In conclusion as a business provider myself for the last 26 years the existing proprietor or owners should consider the aforementioned anomalies and make amends because in the league of hotels in our great nation Nigeria, The Wellington will only succeed in failing to make even a decimal point in my opinion in the...

The Wellington you knew in 2011 is NO MORE. The only redeeming attribute is the bar tender and the nice lady at the front desk. The rest is a shambles. The room power outlets are hanging out of the wall. AND GOOD LUCK FINDING ONE THAT WORKS.. Toilet seats not attached to the toilets. Remote controls barely work if you can keep the batteries from falling out. The table next to the bed is held by one screw. The shower nozzles spray water in every direction but on your body and can’t attach to the wall for a proper shower. PROPER FOOD SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST HERE!!!!! No menus in the room for service . No servers in the restaurant or MENUS at 7:00 pm when I entered. The next night when I entered the lobby (@7:45pm) after a work day I placed the same food order from the night before with the nice lady in the lobby to ensure prompt delivery. I received my meal after 2 hours @ 10:00 pm. It was very tasty chicken and noodles. But I might have ordered a club sandwich if I could see a menu.
I’m glad to say the toilets flushed and the sink faucets worked. TV worked when holding the remote correctly.
Normally staying at a hotel is a reward, but now it feels like I’m being punished.
I will definitely pursue other hotels before staying here.
Dear Wellington owners.... please update your hotel or sell it to...
Read moreHave stayed here for the past five years several times a year. Always fearful it would slowly mulch down with poor maintenance etc I have been pleasantly surprised. The rooms are clean and all works well. Water is hot and internet reliable and free.||The buffet style restaurant caters to both western and african tastes, but though from the UK I prefer the african, fried fish, egusi, all excellent. Room service is usually quick though I miss the madeira cake they used to serve.||Pool is good , very clean, but popular at weekends.||Security is good, and staff all polite and helpful, except perhaps the rather bored youths who work in the lobby shop.||The hotel can get busy with weddings and conferences but this is a good place to stay, reasonable rates and is reliably consistent in quality, service, maintenance and ambiance. Nice views from the upper floors, The last bit of civilised living before heading to the creeks and first on our return, so always appreciated! Very handy for the airport an...
