They are under serviced.. In as much as it is a good spot to chill out. There service is very very very poor. Waited hours before someone could attend to us, on two different occasions. Also, there drinks are very pricey for an area located in the suburb. There rooms on the other hand are great and wonderful to stay in.

I was at this Hotel recently, learned it's fairly new, the furnishings is lavish and well maintained, the poolbar is breathtaking, the food was good too compared to the other places I've been around, the accessibility is just perfect too. I feel this place stands out.

Good place to go have a sit out with family and friends. Their menu is quite interesting albeit a lil pricy I must say, but for a 3 star hotel(IMO), that’s expected. The pool is neat and there’s a room with a view of the pool area (you’ll love it😉).

My experience here was mediocre.

Hotel Movana has a lot going on for it: cool ambiance, especially the indoor & outdoor lounges A feeling of security A nice oasis in the middle of Lagos Incredible entertainment (we enjoyed the Sunday live band immensely) A lovely, large & clean pool Fast & reliable wifi Comfortable & clean room with a modern aesthetic Some very friendly staff (not all though) Great water pressure & an impressive range of temperature in the shower

However, there are a few things Hotel Movana needs to work on: the advertised gym is not open The TV in our room was not working well (the tv did not respond well to the remote & none of the apps, like Netflix, actually worked) Our room was unfortunately close to the pool & outdoor social area, so loud music played well past 11 pm, which negatively impacted our ability to sleep Nonexistent breakfast options (at least by the time I arrived at 9:55 am, even though breakfast stops at 10:30am….)

Now for the reason I give 3 stars instead of 4. I honestly would’ve given 2 stars given how negative the experience I’m about to share was, but I don’t think that’s fair since the pros outweigh the cons significantly.

Upon arrival to breakfast at 9:55 am, I realized there was no food left, aside from 5 sausage links. I reported this to the staff and they told me not to worry. A young lady proceeded to make me a large plate of spaghetti with fish sauce. While I appreciated the gesture, I actually don’t eat much carbs and would not have prepared that dish for myself if I had the choice to make my own breakfast (which I thought I would….at a breakfast buffet….at a reputable hotel?). Still, I did not want to be an entitled diva. I politely informed her that I wouldn’t eat the whole plate & I apologized in advance for being wasteful. She then communicated to her colleague that I did not want the food. Frustrated at the apparent misunderstanding, I took the plate and went back to the buffet to add more fish sauce, seeing as the plate she prepared for me was 90% spaghetti, which again, is not aligned with my diet. This is where it all went left, and I’m still in disbelief as I prepare to write this.

The staff member actually followed me to the buffet to monitor the quantity of food I was taking. I added half a spoon of fish sauce then just as I was about to take ONLY SAUCE (in other words, not even more fish), she tapped my hand and said “it’s ok it’s ok”. I said “are you actually trying to tell me how much food I can take to eat?”. She laughed shyly. I then said “this must be the only food left in the kitchen so you’re saving it for anyone else who arrives before 10:30”, to which she just replied with a smile.

Now. As someone who has traveled to 6 continents and has stayed at all types of accommodations from questionable hostels in the jungle in my youth to the iconic 7-star Burj Al Arab in Dubai just last year, I can confidently say that I have never had any staff member at any accommodation at any level of luxury on this beautiful planet feel so comfortable with me as to actually think they can 1) monitor my food intake AT A BUFFET, 2) verbally comment on it & 3) touch me by tapping my hand to stop me as if I’m a child?! Am I not a paying customer with the right to freely consume my included breakfast as part of my stay? It’s simply mind-blowing. An abomination.

I’m not sure if this hotel trains their staff and if so, I’m not sure how well. Perhaps this young lady was new. I’m very aware that this isn’t a 5 star establishment, and that’s ok! But I would advise them to train their staff to behave appropriately with all their guests. The truth is, you just never know who your guests really are…so I would strongly advise their staff to re-examine their boldness & audacity.

My partner and I were considering extending our stay, but we ended up...
