My Enjoyable Experience at Omu Resort in Bogije
At the end of the academic session, my wife and I decided to have some fun with our children before the next session started. We had all worked hard throughout the session, both my wife and I in our jobs and our children at school.
I mentioned to one of my bosses at work that we were planning a family outing, and he suggested Omu Resort in Bogije instead of the place we initially considered. He mentioned that Omu Resort was less than an hour away from Epe or Ajah and though the tickets might be a bit pricey, it would be a day filled with fun.
After researching on Chrome and watching YouTube videos about the resort, we felt well-prepared and set out on August 4th, 2023. We arrived before noon.
We purchased two 'Gold' tickets for the adults, a separate ticket for our seven-year-old boy, and our baby, who was less than 2 years old, got in for free. The fun started as soon as we entered the resort. As we entered, we placed an order for food. The resort operates on a pay and prepare service basis. Their menu offers a variety of food options. I must say, being on an island, the quality of their food truly justifies the cost.
The zoo was a delight, with a variety of animals and birds. I was surprised to see a lion and lioness with their cub, along with elands, ostriches, baboons, gorillas, snakes, geese, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and many others.
The amusement park offered unlimited enjoyment, featuring thrilling electrical rides that brought out both joy and a bit of fear.
The Water Park and the kiddies' area provided a lot of fun for both children and adults. I went down the water slide twice and enjoyed a good swim in the pool. I spent at least forty minutes in the pool. The museum and sea world were both informative and entertaining. I even tried my hand at snooker and took a swing at the boxing bag.
The outdoor activities were plenty as well. I played basketball and enjoyed some time on the swings.
While I didn't try horseback riding and bull riding, even though my ticket covered them, I did pay extra for a Kayaking ticket. Paddling on the water was a new and enjoyable experience.
We wrapped up our day at the resort around 5pm.
In all, Omu resort is a place of interest one can visit...
Read moreFun rides all the way. Choose your package based on your budget. There's food, snacks and drinks on sale in case you did not come with any. But if you do, you'll need to pay a token to be allowed to bring that in. Children will not be allowed on some rides due to age and body size. Make sure you ask before you pay for a package for children. Monday is majorly maintenance day especially for the water slides. However, kayaking and boat Crouse does not fall into this category. Kayaking is fun even for the children. Water depth is barely 4 feet so there's no risk of drowning even if the kayak flips which isn't likely to happen at all. However, you can carry your child on your legs for the kayaking. It's a short trip in the water through a winding artificial water body. Look out for the antique museum around here. The high point of the zoo were the lions. Hopefully they put on weight over time, i.e The lion and her lioness. Almost all the animals in the LION KING are present. The snake species were also eye candy. For the rides, make sure your meal has gone down a bit before you venture on the oscillating/rotating rides so you do not 'throw up'. Nice scenery for pictures all over the resort. Don't miss out on the building with the aquarium. Over 20 species of fish 🐟 in a very beautiful enclosure. The access road to the resort needs to be worked on. That's the way the government can support businesses to grow. There's also the concern about the hoverboard session not having a crash helmet nor joint pads. However, the guys will try their best to guide you. The convenience was relatively okay but make sure you take note of the location once you arrive. It is a recreational walk from everything. As with all rides and slides, you are first in charge of your personal safety. However, all the rides were in good shape as at the time of this visit. There's a crawl house for the kids in the aquarium house. NB: there are sandflies here and lots of them. You will do well to bring along an insect repellent cream to handle that or else be prepared for the attendant itching, scratching and discomfort during and well...
Read moreThe Resort looks like a lost place. Everything looks rotten and dirty. The rides are definitely not up to the standards of a good theme park and there is rust all over them. When you use the rides they squeak terribly and it looks very unsafe. The quality of the food is almost inedible, the chicken is dry and the fries are flavorless. Moreover is dirty water almost everywhere, like a swamp. For example we had to take our shoes off to cross the road to the boat because there’s water everywhere. The swimming pool is dirty and deeply unhygienic, like it was sanitized years ago and free water pipes were lying in the pool and the ground, which is a great danger to the children. In addition more than half of the activities were not available and nobody told us beforehand, which is why we paid for ALL of the activities without knowing that most of the activities aren’t working, so they basically scammed us. Which takes me to my last point : the terrible animal abuse in the zoo of the resort. The animals aren’t active due to a small cages they have to live in. They definitely do not look healthy and they get yam fed which is not a proper food source for all animals. They look abused and terrible. When we shared our concerns with the staff they try to convince us that this is what the animals need which is in fact wrong. If they show off animals, which is unethical in the first place, they should ensure a safe and proper environment for them which is definitely not the case. Adding to that the racing cars they offer are not functional and very dangerous because you can’t determine the speed or the direction you drive to because it is very hard to control the cars during the ride. Therefore this resort doesn’t even earn one star in my opinion. For this expensive price we had a terrible experience and we are more than dissatisfied with everything. I can definitely not recommend this place especially if you want to go with your children. Very...
