NSDC Suites — Hotel in Niger State

The hotel has "government establishment" written all over it, however it has several good points to recommend it. Spacious grounds, very clean and well maintained shrubbery. The lobby is enormous, with several sitting areas and tasteful decor. rooms are clean, the furnishings dated but comfortable, the plumbing adequate with excellent water pressure. I particularly liked the big windows which ensured the rooms weren't uncomfortably hot inspire of the constant power outages. There are several halls and conference rooms for different kinds of events and a large spaces for exhibition and open air events. the restaurant is small but clean and airy. the food is wholesome and freshly prepared and price isquite pocket friendly. they have a limited menu though and apparently are not use to catering for large events. I found the staff generally polite and helpful especially housekeeping - good work there. there was a small "mallam's shop" (as we know then in Lagos) off the lobby which has everything you could possibly need in a hurry - it made my stay a lot more pleasant, i can tell you. A particular note about security: despite all the hype about insecurity in the area, the town of Minna and the hotel was quite restful. if you looked closely, there was a lot of security presence, but it wasn't in your face and there was no hostility or tension. In fact, my four day visit was one of the more pleasant trips I've had in the recent past. I slept well, which I generally have difficulty doing in a strange environment. I have travelled to over 20 states in the country and stayed in different hotels but this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

The hotel looks nice on the outside but it’s horrible and fraudulent. When we went to make inquiries, they showed us a room completely different from the room we were lodged in claiming the other room is under construction.

We paid 20k per night for a room and when we were checking out they gave us receipts of 17k per night to sign. That led into another issue.

Their services are poor, staff is incompetent. The rooms have one issues or the other. Sockets are not working, pillows are dirty, bathroom is unclean.

The morning I was checking out, there was total blackout for over 2hours.

It was terrible place to lodge. Towel was not kept in the room. When it was kept, it was unclean and of low quality. Lots of ants were in the room. Intercom did not work. The kitchen staff were not professional. The Sstaff at the reception lacked experience. We were two guest, lodged in our different rooms but they billed the expenses into one room. It was frustrating when we asked for the bill to be separated and they told us they could not be able to do so. Can you imagine that level of inexperience.
