We were part of a group of 40 people – mostly elderly and some with mobility issues. This hotel was not the hotel we had signed up for but was a result of being changed because of a police conference in our original hotel – the Tino. ||It is not possible for a coach to get close to the entrance of the hotel. It had to park at the bottom of a steep slope. Taxis were able to meet you at the entrance. ||There are 4 floors with 2 lifts – one lift has an external view of the surrounding lake. ||The room we were appointed had a walk in shower as requested. However whenever it was used it not only flooded the shower area but the whole bathroom – their solution being to put a step between the bathroom and the bedroom area. There are no rails to hold onto and our only option was to place the plastic chair from the balcony into the shower to offer some reduction of risk of slipping on a very hazardous floor surface. In my opinion the potential risk of someone falling in this area and breaking a limb is very high! ||The general state of the room was very tired with the walls needing repainting and the curtains not fully attached to the rails. ||The food and service in the hotel was not of a good standard. The restaurant was supposed to be serving breakfast from 7am but often it was at least 10 minutes after this before all the food had been brought out. The plates were always cold and most of them chipped. The cooked food was placed onto a serving area but wasn’t kept on any hot plates so quickly went cold. The only reliably hot item was the coffee from the machine! ||On the Saturday of our stay the hotel had booked a wedding! This meant that we were compromised for space in the dining room for our evening meal – but worse still we had a high volume disco thumping down on us with fireworks until after midnight! When some of our group complained about this they were told that they had asked the party to turn the volume down but this had clearly been ignored. There was clearly nobody from the hotel taking any responsibility or caring about the impact this was having on our group!||I have travelled extensively around Europe and further afield and this is possibly one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. I would avoid it...
Read moreWe ended up in this hotel as part of a group of over 40 people , after the tour company changed the hotel at the last minute. |The building itself is ok but is at the top of a short but steep slope. Not good if folk have mobility issues as the coach can’t get up it. |The hotel is about 4 miles out of town and only has an infrequent bus service to town, so unless you like a walk your stuck there ||The staff do speak English at reception, but less so once past that area, and aren’t really interested in customers.|The room was tired and in need of a good clean and a bit of TLC. |The staff came in daily but only changed the towels and emptied the bin. No cleaning done in a week.||The food was very poor in both quality, presentation and usually quite cold. In reality it was not appetising in any way. For instance, the eggs in a morning were horrible. The evening meals are just as bad. There is a choice of fries or rice, both cold unless you get them as soon as they are put out. The meats/fish choices are available but not hot and tasteless as well. These things are very cool when served , then put on cold plates. Not good. |It would help if the plates were kept heated. |In reality good food Is available but not at this hotel. So you end up spending on food during the day to make up for the lack of reasonable food at the hotel. ||We had an evening at the Tino hotel ( which is the hotel we should have been in ) and food was a good bit better, and warmer. The staff are also MUCH better.||We also suffered the noise of an unexpected wedding on the Saturday night. As the hotel was much busier that night we couldn’t find a table to eat at, so had to try again 30 minutes later.|The loud music went on till well after midnight. |Overall, a...
Read moreCame here on a four day TUI break and must say we enjoyed North Macedonia.|The hotel is a bit far from Ohrid centre but taxis are easy to use and are not expensive (400 denar which is about £5).|The receptionist who checked us in was very friendly and helpful but all the others were disinterested & rude.|We were given a room over looking the hills and car park which didn’t bother us as it was a short break.|The room was clean and there was plenty of storage, and the bed was very comfortable.|As has been mentioned in another review the air conditioning is set too high & can’t be adjusted.|We found the breakfast to be good plenty of choice (if you are having coffee from the machine press the coffee button once then top up with hot water & milk, it’s much nicer).|The bar service is pretty good most of the time but as mentioned in an earlier review there was a wedding on our last day which took over the hotel.|During the event most of the staff were very busy trying to deal with the wedding party as well as the hotel guests (they were run off their feet) this meant getting drinks was a bit tricky.|Also the live loud music went on till after midnight which for the people in the rooms over looking the pool area must have been a nightmare.|Are we glad we came to North Macedonia definitely yes, Ohrid old town and the lake are beautiful.|As for the hotel we probably wouldn’t come back but that’s because it’s a little bit far away from the centre and there is nothing within reasonable...
