A reply to the owner's reaction on my original review (see below).

My review is purely based on a business related issue. I've asked and commented more than once to correct and refund the over payment we made. It was denied by the owner, not accepted, pointing out to the 'general terms and condition'. Let's be clear that on the booking confirmation the only line on term and conditions is telling: "Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to arrival will be charged 100%". No information on possible price changes, no reference to general terms and conditions. So, to prevent potential other customers ending up in a similar discussion I decided to write the review.

It has nothing to do with the internship of my daughter. Perhaps it's even the other way around.

Really a nice place to spend your holiday, both in winter and summer! The location has a lot of potential, something beautiful has been set up by the previous owner. However, you can see that the buildings have deteriorated. We had booked the apartment. In itself good, but both the kitchen and bathroom showed some defects such as leaking taps. Kitchen inventory is limited (limited number of pans / kitchen utensils). There is no properly working extractor above the cooking unit.

What was most disappointing was the price. First of all the bill for the room. The price that was charged was more than 400.00 EUR higher than what we booked it for. As an argument you are told that you should have read the general terms and conditions, because it states that the prices can change in the meantime.... Not a customer-friendly and professional attitude if you ask me.

We had dinner at the hotel a few times. There is no choice menu, so you eat what is served. The quality of the dinner was average to good, but to charge more than 75.00 EUR per person for a 3-course meal is too much in my opinion. The breakfast, which was not included in the apartment so is charged additionally, is simple. You have to indicate the day before what and how much you want to eat and it is measured exactly. The price-quality ratio is also not ok. For a breakfast you quickly pay 20.00 EUR per person.

As for the service, this varies from day to night. Contact with the current owners is mediocre. They do not realize what kind of location they have and what you can achieve with it. They are mainly concerned with getting their own way, do not admit to their own mistakes or errors.

The staff team is fine, they make contact easily and are easily accessible.

Nice place, missed...

We stayed for 3 nights and spent the days in the area.| The room is ok (we stayed in the Dutch room), some people might think it’s a little small but I thought it was ok. My only issue with it was that it was quite dark (only one main lamp), and that it didn’t smell very nice when we came back from a day outdoors. The last day we left the window open and it was significantly better. Bed is ok, nothing special. I doubt you could sleep in it if you’re above 190cm though. | As for the breakfast, they adopt a preorder method by paper. The first day this was quite difficult as there were very few descriptions on what “brown bun” or “white bun” really is. Or “meat”? Chocolate spread turned out to be Nutella or a substitute, cheese was Brie and some standard Norwegian cheese. “Brown bun” was a bake-off bun with some wholemeal. Granola & jam seemed to be store bought as well. In general quite few homemade things on the breakfast. In addition to the things we requested we also got some cucumber, tomatoes and slices of bell peppers.| One day we requested a sandwich bag for lunch to bring on our hike. This was also ordered by the breakfast order paper. However, for instance when you ask for cheese and a brown bun, that’s all you get. No greens, condiments or similar. You did get an apple though. This cost 100 NOK per person, so we only did it one day as we thought we could get more value at the supermarket (we could).| We had dinner at the hotel one night, it consisted of smoked salmon tartar (seemed to be the same salmon as we could get for breakfast), a main dish of lamb with vegetables and red wine sauce. For dessert we had a brownie and ice cream. Considering the homepage’s explanation of local produce etc I expected a bit more, especially of the breakfast and the dessert. More homemade items and more imaginative desserts than brownie and ice cream. | We also did a fly fishing tour. I really appreciated it and would give that tour 5/5. Good gear, good guidance and a very good time. We were unlucky to not catch any fish but that’s hardly the tour’s fault. | As a final note, if you book any external tours like horse riding, do check where you’re supposed to be and at which time. The hotel forwarded the booking of our horse tour but didn’t tell us that it started...

When life is overwhelmingly busy and even the smallest decisions feel impossible, it feels like nothing short of a miracle to stumble upon a hidden gem of a hotel tucked away in the woods—with rooms available! Thank you, Danielle, for taking our reservation on a whim. We weren’t sure whether we’d stay one or two nights, but the moment we stepped out of the car and caught our first glimpse of Herangtunet Boutique Hotel, we knew without a doubt—it had to be two. We were warmly welcomed by Anne-Mona, who runs the hotel’s restaurant with her partner, Jonasz. Her hospitality was truly world-class. The rooms are cozy and stylishly decorated. Herangtunet is made up of several old houses clustered together, and while we expected a bit of creaking from the floors and walls, we were pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully peaceful our room was. One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at the restaurant. The ambiance was serene, with fresh flowers and live candles on every table. Every dish on the menu featured local ingredients, and the descriptions alone were mouthwatering. Each plate that arrived looked like it belonged in a Michelin-starred restaurant—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. What a treat! Fair warning: you can expect a call from us on December 23 as we inevitably panic trying to recreate your pork belly.

We stayed in Herangtunet Boutique Hotel on the last night of our honeymoon in Norway. TL;DR: Book this hotel if you can. The location is stunning. The rooms are fantastic and the staff are brilliant. There are no negatives. Such a lovely experience. The room: We booked the Norwegian Room and it was stunning. It was decorated amazingly and had a very modern bathroom setup with a brilliant shower. There was also a wood furnace inside the room which created a fantastic ambiance. The location: A little out of the way but that was part of the beauty. It is situated inside a pine forest at a height so the views were picturesque. The secluded area was so quiet and peaceful The food: We opted in for a 3 course meal (served at 7pm) and my partner is vegetarian. The hotel was very accomodating and presented us with probably one of the nicest meals I've ever had. Huge compliments to the chef. The staff: Brilliant. No other words needed. We had a chat with the owner who was a lovely man. The staff went above and beyond for us

Perfect getaway and luxury boutique hotel in Norway. Close to major cities and beautiful location! Greeted by the owner & got quick replies on whatsapp for every inquiry we had. Easy check in and amazing sustainable food options for dinner and breakfast. Suite value is great -we stayed in the iconic LONDON suite which complimented the aesthetic of being in the forest and the sauna experience is a must. Grocery store walking distance, gas station, EV charger (in the hotel) & a hike trail with no need for car to reach it. Activities are available both free in nature and an activity company with fees nearby by car. Sports outlet 20 minute drive for moderately priced sporting equipment and clothes. High rated restaurants around the area as well. Would definitely come back again during peak season! All the best to the Herangtunet team!
