If I could leave 6 stars, I would.

Lisbeth is an amazing woman with a servant heart. Marmelkroken is a special place in a special place (Arctic Norway) run with a deep sense of nature, environment and community. This is the place to come when you need to spend time away from screens, to talk with others and be reconnected to what’s important.

We were on a bike tour when a major early autumn storm came in. Lisbeth helped us figure out the Norwegian specific ferry schedules, where the nearest landing would be and even went so far as to contact the ship directly and acquired critical information that they would likely not be able to land at our chosen destination. We were able to make the short dash to the ferry and get to Sortland avoiding gale force headwinds and rain. We avoided what could have been a dangerous and difficult ride with her help.

It’s just a beautiful place. It’s simple in an elegant way, the dining is elegant, featuring 5 star chef prepared local farm and fishing foods presented beautifully.

Highly recommended....

Our few days at Marmelkroken were amazing. Lisbeth was the most excellent of hostesses/chefs/teachers. Our teenage son is full of energy and she answered all his questions and gave us all wonderful information about the region, food, culture, wildlife and history. His favorite part of our stay was the Laavu, outdoor fire hut, and getting to try on the replica Viking clothing. The rest of us loved the food and great conversation with Lisbeth. We learned so much about the area and what it has to offer.|The location is lovely and the GPS will get you right to the front door. |If we are ever lucky enough to get back to Norway, we would choose to stay at...

Had a fantastic stay at Marmelkroken! Lisbeth is a super owner, chef, and person! My wife and I are bicycle touring through the Arctic and stayed at her inn. The location is both beautiful and relaxing on the Arctic Ocean. A footpath leads down to the shore, which is the vantage point from which my photo is taken. Make certain you eat some meals prepared by Lisbeth. Her cooking is great, and she often includes food from the local farm. During breakfast I loved the wild berries on top of granola with fresh yoghurt mixed in.

Marmelkroken is such a charming place, very much so thanks to its passionate owner and manager Lisbeth who engages in exciting visionary plans for both Marmelkroken and the entire Andøya island. This unpolished guest house has a real authentic entrepreneurial feel, and is a great base to explore rural experiences such as cheese production and lamas at the farm next door, art at the nearby gallery, Scenic Route Andøya, whale and puffin excursions. And - it is the perfect spot to see the midnight sun and northern lights without having to go on a paid excursion. Recommended. Can't wait to send more Up Norway guests to visit.

Looking for a place to unwind and detox? This is the one! We had a wonderful stay at Marmelkroken. On our first night, we arrived at 11 PM due to issues with our rental car. We had booked breakfast and dinner with our stay and they still gave us a 3 course meal when we arrived that late. The quality of the food is amazing, especially the breakfast. I already miss the home-made cloudberry juice. Lisbeth, the owner, is a very pleasant person and will be happy to give you local recommendations to plan your day. Thank you for having us, Marmelkroken!
