This place has an absolutely horrible way of treating their guests! We had booked a stay for the weekend 12-14 August in connection with a competition our son was to participate in this weekend.||||When we arrived in the afternoon of the 12th, they had managed to rent out the cabin we were to rent, we had then driven for over 7 hours to stay there and had to get up early the next day. They spent over an hour getting us booked into another cabin, and rather prioritized helping people buy soft drinks and toast.||||We finally got our cabin, and said it will be fine. Got up the next day and went downtown to take part in a competition. When we returned around 15:00 we found another family in our cabin, and all our things had been cleared out of the cabin and thrown into garbage bags and placed in reception.||||When we went to reception and asked what had happened, we were met with the same attitude as the night before, I sat on the sofa and waited for them to serve customers soft drinks and ice cream and to check in those who came with camper vans etc. I sat in over an hour before they said we would get our cabin back.||||When we went back to the cabin and were about to move back, there was rubbish in the bucket in the cupboard and dirty cups in the sink, so they hadn't even bothered to clean the room after the other family, who they also chased away.||||I then went upstairs and asked to be refunded the money for the overnight stay, but that was not the case. I could get a little discount was the answer.||||By then my patience had run out and I asked for a refund of what I had paid, so we were allowed to leave. I then got the money back and was about to leave.||||We then had to check the condition of our luggage and that everything was in place, as they had put everything in garbage bags. There were soaps, shampoos, perfumes, milk, juice, ham and cheese dumped in together with clothes, laptop and electronics so it had leaked out and over our clothes and my son's laptop. In addition, all the food we had with us was initially sorted and separated because we have a son with celiac disease, but now all his food had to be thrown away because everything was squeezed together and contaminated with gluten. So food for several NOK 100 straight in the trash and potentially broken electronics, and not even a hint of an offer of compensation, just an excuse for a system error and a complaint that they lost money because they had to turn others away, and that we demanded the money back.||||Then she who was at the reception came over to us when we were standing outside in the square in front of the reception building and dried food and soap from our clothes and all the luggage was lying outside the square, and says that they have apologized for the system error. As if the system error is what we reacted to. If they had only called us before they decided to throw everything out, this would not have become an issue.||||I was so shocked and provoked to be treated this way, and so angry that I just had to firmly tell her to get away. We finished packing, got in the car and drove from there.||||I have never experienced people in a service profession with such a horrible way of treating...
Read moreTL;DR cheap, ugly ground, nice huts, with an extremely approachable, ridiculously charming and over the top helpful guy in the reception
Longer version:
Industry area, 30 minutes to kiwi and spar (cheap supermarkets) and 1 hour to Åsane (town) storesenter/Horison/IKEA (giant consumer temples). 5 minutes to an enchanting forest/mountain, 30-60 minutes to several mountain peaks. All on foot. 20 minutes bus ride to Bergen. Bus stop around the corner.
Pretty clean in my book, have been at vastly pricier camping grounds with better ratings and toilets that looked and smelled like the first world war. People here seem to take care of "their" stuff. The odd black sheep included.
Final words: the guy is amazing, one of the genuinely friendliest people I've ever met. The cabins and cottages are small but new and clean. The motel is old as dirt as are the showers. There are tent spots, though caravans and huts are the main beef of this place. You got the E39 (I think it's called, big main street across half of Norway) like 500 meters away, if you got places to go, you will get there. You do NOT hear the street. You do NOT pay a lot of money. You DO live pretty central. You DO reach gorgeous nature on foot within minutes. You do NOT live INSIDE that nature, but at the border of an...
Read moreWe stayed here in a motorhome (Carado T447) and honestly, I don’t understand the negative reviews. This was one of the most practical and enjoyable campsites we found in Norway. • The best feature: two professional-grade washers and dryers, completely free and with no wait time. It was the only place in Norway where we could do laundry without stress. • There’s a small playground on site—great for kids. • Public transport access is excellent: the bus to Bergen is nearby and makes visiting the city easy. • Price is very competitive given the location and included services. • Toilets were clean and never crowded. We didn’t try the showers, so we can’t comment on that. • Our motorhome pitch was small but adequate, relatively flat and functional. • Dump station and freshwater were available and easy to access. • It was quiet at night, which we appreciated with two young children. • Wi-Fi worked well, even outside the reception area. • Only real downside: some nettles in the grassy areas, so keep an eye out, especially with kids. • No supermarket within walking distance, but there are options about 15 minutes away by bike.
We’d happily stay here again. It’s a well-run, convenient and family-friendly stop...
