When entering Farsund over the little bridge you are already able to see Rederiet Hotell. It consists of two different buildings: a beautiful wooden white house and a considerably newer building right next to it. Check-in One day prior to arrival I got a message with a door code, in other words a non-assisted check-in. Right inside there was a little table with envelopes which included the room keys. The room On entering the room we had a bit of a shock. The hotel boasts to be a historic hotel, but what we got was nothing but a dated room where the warm, sticky air was standing still. The room featured a wardobe with an ironing board, an iron, a hairdryer and a foldable luggage rack. To the left there was the bathroom(more on that later). There was also a desk with a chair, an armchair, a double bed and a small table squeezed in between the armchair and the desk. Coffe making facilites where to be found on the desk. On the wall there was a small tv from the times when flatscreen tv’s became a desirable commodity. All furniture was dated with serious signs of wear and tear. Comments on the room: apart from being overheated and very dated it also was very dirty. On top of the headboard of the bed there was lots of dust. On lifting the matress we found dust, dirt and hairs. Comment on the bathroom: the water pressure in the shower was miserable. The connection between the shower head and the shower hose was damaged and quite a bit of water never made it into the shower head. And take a look at the picture of the power sockets in the bathroom. The breakfast was hardly edible and a total desaster, both in choice and quality. The sunny-side up eggs were like rubber and one of the eggs was miscoloured. The sausages tasted like they were cooked days ago or reheated and the softboiled eggs were cold. It was not possible to get anything else but black coffee and tea. Funnily enough there wasnt even hot water on the buffet, so we had to ask for it. A tiny fridge with milk, apple juice and orange juice was totally misplaced standing for itself and not where you would need it. Of course, the orange juice was empty. The meat cuts, cheeses and fish(salmon/trout) were not stored/presented on ice. No food safety here. Note: apart from us there was only one elderly couple. Toilet visit In the basement with stairs leading down from the breakfast venue you will find the restrooms. An appalling site once again. There were sh*t stains both in the toilet and on the toilet paper. Service Service/human interaction during check-in was non-existant. During breakfast a young Ukranian lad was the only staff member working there. When we inquired about the possibility of ordering a cappuccino his eyes and demeanour was one of shock. He had to get in touch with his manager/superior. After one minute he came back and said: Sorry, my boss says its not possible. Not much of a manager! I felt very sorry for the Ukranian lad having to work there. It was clear he had not received any training and had no clue what it meant to work in a hotel. The price-performance ratio was absolutely ridiculous. I paid 1813kr for the worst hotel experience of my life. There was nothing historic about the hotel which used to be a shipping company and first turned hotel in 1998, I believe. There was no charm nor history to any aspects to the part of the hotel where we were staying. It was plain to see that old offices were turned into sub-standard hotel rooms. Warning: do not stay at this property. Management here is utterly failing in providing a memorable experience, let alone a historic experience as they boast on in their advertisement.

Litt dyr, men du får nok mat. Veldig hyggelig personale.
