Rosendal Turisthotell — Hotel in Kvinnherad

I stayed at the rosendal tourist hotel in September 2018 with my best friend. We had traveled for 8 weeks around Europe and we were a few days from the end. We had a horrific few days with a bad experience in Norway due to renting a camper trailer. The amazing owners at the Rosendal tourist hotel made us feel at home, they lit a candle and bought us some amazing local apple juice (which was amazing!!! And they waited till early hours of the morning for us to arrive after a last minute call with our troubles ) and told us we were there now to relax because we were safe. I tell you what I would have stayed longer if I could. We felt so good being there after our bad experience we were only going to stay 1 night but we changed our road trip and stayed for 3. I called back home and told my family how accomodating they were and how the atmosphere reminded me of a family vacation spot from back home. The waitresses were helpful and told us about the festivals in town at the time and the owners went out of there way to help us with everything we had been through. Couldn’t recommend them more they made our stay. I hope I get back there one day. The location was great it was right opposite the information centre and were we left for our glazier kayak trip and the coffee store up the road was the best we had in 8 weeks!! For a place with a shared bathroom it was immaculate and the rooms were tidy and homely. This is one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. There are so many things wrong with this place. We stayed in the second most expensive room - the double room with own bath. WiFi wasn't working for a long period during our stay. The host made it work though after asking them and explained how much the WiFi had costed - which was not really relevant. The room was located in the backyard of the hotel which was really disappointing since the hotel advertises their amazing view of the fjord. We expected that the second most expensive room would have part of this view. Own toilet/bathroom is pretty much just a glass enclosure in the room meaning that moisture is everywhere in the room after showering. The lighting from the bathroom also lights the remaining room. Bathroom door didn't close properly so be prepared for a very intimate stay with your partner. There were no shampoo, conditioner or hair dryer available in the room as well. Light switch for the bathroom was located across the room making it impossible to go to the bathroom without waking your partner at night. Curtains were missing in one window and the front door had large gaps where cold air could get in. Breakfast was extremely disappointing and not adequate for a normal sized man. It's a very cute but basic hotel. The hotel does not have any standard necessaries like a normal hotel does, no soap , shampoo , hairdryer , iron in the rooms. We called in before we booked the hotel and asked for two separate beds in the room and they confirmed several weeks ahead that it’s no issue. When we arrived after a long trip they gave us a double bed so we had to leave the room and have them rearrange the room for us. ||Also they don't clean the rooms during your stay, even though we asked for it. Most of the staff are really nice and helpful, the women in the kitchen are so sweet gets you whatever you need. ||We were two people in our room but only had towels/robe for one person so we asked a man downstairs several times for more towels so both of us could shower but he never delivered it to us. The hotel was not busy but he just ignored the task and told us he will get to it soon. I couldnt shower that day because of it. |I had to drag him with me end of the day after approaching him several times about it since the morning and we went to several rooms and picked towels from other rooms in the end together. He never supplied a second robe though and was quite dismissive about it.
