We have been travelling around Norway with our 9 year old daughter, booking a few days ahead. We came across this place when somewhere else we wanted to stay was fully booked - and we're so glad that we did. The 4 bedded self-catering chalet (2 singles joined upstairs, 2 singles in downstairs bedroom) is adequately equipped, with 2 ring cooker, sink and a small oven, as well as a large fridge-freezer, small dishwasher and coffee maker, and everything is spotlessly clean. Laundry facilities are available in a separate building, as well as an outside washing line. Bed-linen and towels are not provided, and sleeping bags are not allowed, so either bring you own linen or rent from the owner for 150kr per person. We were also asked to pay in cash, presumably because we had booked only a few days before. However, there is food to buy (from the Spar or Co-op in Gaupne - watch the best before dates as they don't seem to worry about these too much!) and places to visit. During our 3 night stay, we walked on the glacier at Nigardsbreen, visited the hydro-electric power station, and drove around the fjord to visit the church at Urnes, catching the ferry back. The scenery is beautiful, and we would have stayed longer if we could, but time and ferries home wait for no man, and we reluctantly...
