Ranten Hotel, BW Signature Collection — Hotel in Nesbyen

Stay away from this hotel! Not only are they dishonest on their website about what they offer, but they also do not care at all about their guests.

We booked a hotel night with Ranten Hotell specifically because they offered a 24-hour front desk. We arrived at the hotel at 11:30 pm after a long day of traveling and the lobby was open, but nobody was there to check us in.

We waited for around 25 mins, ringing the bell, calling the hotel and looking for someone to help us check-in and nothing. Our travel agency was able to get in touch with the hotel, but they still refused to let us check-in because they said it was too late. It can never be too late if they have a 24-hour front desk! They specifically state that on their website.

Long story short, we waited unsuccessfully for an hour for someone to arrive. We ended up driving to the nearest hotel in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of the night for more than an hour, arriving at 2:30 am.

I will never book again with this hotel or with any other Best Western property, as they clearly do not vet their...

This is a great place to come for skiing in the winter if you like cross country and want a small downhill slope right outside your door. We come every year for three-four days when our daughters have their winter break. The downhill slope is perfect for beginners, and if you don't need a bigger slope, you won't need to start your car during your stay.||||The hotel has a low key, sporty atmosphere, staff is friendly, the meals great because of the mountain appetite you work up (don't expect gourmet cooking) and the common areas very welcoming. The tiny pool is often enjoyed by kids after a day of skiing or when the occasional snow storm hits.||||The rooms are small and the bathrooms smaller. But everything is clean and the beds are ok. The heating in the bathroom floor was not working in one of our rooms this time. Hope they'll fix it for next time:)||||Consider cross country skiing, or walking during summer season, a couple of miles over to Fagerhoy Fjellstue to have lunch or dinner there one day during your stay.||||We'll go back to Ranten next...

When we checked in, the hotel gave us a regular room instead. The reason was: the hotel was full and since we using points to redeem for room night so we were downgraded. The hotel gave our room to paying guest instead. The main reason i booked a junior suite instead of a regular room because I have limited mobility and need a larger space.
