What a great place. When you arrive, you will be made as welcome as if you are visiting some of your favorite friends you haven’t seen for a while.||The lodge is very comfortable without being pretentious, the staff treat you like they have known you for a while but at the same time are very courteous and friendly. The food is fantastic, served by restaurant staff that also can’t do enough to ensure that you have everything you need.||They have a great wine list, including some things you never expected to see in a Norwegian restaurant, at prices that won’t scare you away (at least if you are used to Norwegian prices).||The rooms are fairly large, practical and clean with tv’s that have a good selection of channels, and a WiFi system that actually works and is fast enough to be able to actually use to work with.||The scenery around the lodge is stunning, with many different walking and ski trails you can follow both in the winter and summer months, both long and shorter depending on what you want. There are some things to do in the village below (museum, lake), and every time you return by car to the hotel you have to pay toll… very strange that as a hotel guest you can t avoid this.|The hotel is a bit old fashioned|Rooms are decent size, ok bed, nice sofa and chairs, not much power outlets free though. No fridge, no safe. One closet,|Bathroom small, good walk in shower, small sink, little space to put things, no hairdryer, only one big box of soap, nothing else. You get the rustic cabin experience, complete with grass roof, but with modern conveniences: indoor shower, electricity, sauna, well equipped kitchen with coffee maker and dishwasher... They provide meal service but you pay extra for it and they didn't always have the kind of wine we wanted. By Norwegian hotel standards the breakfast was a bit sparse and didn't offer fresh fruit but by American standards was almost lavish. The one problem we had was finding it. We made a few wrong turns and showed up quite late but they kept the kitchen open for us (it normally closes at 8 pm)....
