We had a brief stop at Romsdalseggen Camping, and were initially quite confused as we thought we had booked a cabin (based on the pictures on the website and in the confirmation e-mail) though it appeared to actually be a room. Considering the briefness of our stay, the difference between a room and a cabin was negligible.
The shower facilities were inadequate, both in terms of quality (coin operated) and in sheer numbers (two showers per gender). They were shared between a significant amount of people which caused queues, in addition to the existing frustration associated with the antiquated pay-for-warm-shower-water system. One would think that simple amenities, such as warm water was included without paying extra (supposedly 10 NOK for 6 mins, though in reality you get around 3-4 mins).
The general impression was okay, though the price was slightly stiff (600 NOK for 1 night), considering one can easily book something off Airbnb for around that range (500-800 NOK) with all amenities included with many additional perks.
To summarise, Romsdalseggen Camping is okay in a pinch (either monetary or time wise). Though if one has a tent or a car which may serve as a bed, I would rather opt for these and just pay for a shower, or splash out on an Airbnb which actually gives...
Read moreWe stayed at the camping (in a double room) when it was unmanned. Maybe it feels more cozy during the summer season here, but we experienced a rather worn down, cold house with lamps that didn't work. Also, you need 10 NOK per 6 minute you want to shower, which we didn't knew until we came there and all the shops (where you might Have been able to change coins) were closed.||However, the staff is very friendly and kind and we even manage to move our stay with one day without any problem. ||The pictures of the camping mislead us a bit, thinking it would be much bigger and in Another enviroment than right beside the main road. ||||But, overall; I'll guess you get what you pay for. The beds were nice, and our room had a radiator to warm us up, even though the rest of the...
Read moreWe had called the manager Ture and had reserved a cabin. Upon arrival, our cabin was already occupied by other guests. Because of high season, all other camping places have been full by now as well. We have called the camping's landlord again, he did not apologize and sent his secretary to offer us another cabin at his second camping place "Korsbakken Camping", which was way more expensive. They have accepted to bargain and in the end we have got decent value for our money. However, he reneged on the promise of reservation and handled the problem...
