Friendly staff who do everything to make you feel good and welcome. However, the hotel is outdated and in need of an update. In the corridors this is clearly visible and in the room it is disguised by the furniture and the bed. There is a TV, but slightly larger than an IPAD, the minibar is completely empty, just like in so many hotels, but you can always buy something to drink at the reception. Rooms are outdated but clean. Restaurant food was fine, however, only a fixed 3-course menu which is served very quickly (there is approximately 3 minutes between dishes, so the food is already prepared). Breakfast fine nothing to complain about. There is no charging station for people who come with an electric car. The garden is very well maintained and looks great. I only share photos to properly reflect the current situation. In short, a great hotel for company events or for people who do not have such high expectations. If you want a nice and romantic weekend away with your partner, I advise you to...
Read moreFood poisoning capital of Norway. This hotel has had two of Europe's most horrendous food poisoning outbreaks. In the last five years they have two food poisoning episodes in which over two hundred or so people on each occasion suffered mass poisoning from food.....google it! Hotel is old and worn out. Service is pitiful with unprofessional staff from management to servers. Management that have no formal or proper management education or proper knowledge of the industry. When you have that type of management structure it's no surprise the hotel has had the two worst ever cases of mass food poisoning in Norwegian history. Another hotel in the area close by called Sundvollen Hotel is far superior and much better priced. To be quite honest, in my opinion Klaekken Hotel is a dump and a health hazard run by unprofessional clowns that have no place in the hospitality industry. This hotel should have been closed last year for good after their latest food...
Read moreArrived on foot with painful knee. Got a small single room on first floor. Staff were very nice. Room and bathroom, while very small, are clean. Just one small bath towel provided. Dinner can be ordered a la carte though it seems like they try to sell their fixed price menu. It took a little talking before I could get the actual Menu to look at. The ocean trout with vegetables and potato croquettes was wonderful! Breakfast is included in the room price and very extensive and delicious, also. All staff has been helpful and kind. The grounds are beautiful, large and appear well kept with a nice size swimming pool, sculptures and a walk on...
