Great hotel! Simple but clean and comfortable rooms, with bathrooms that could do with a little updating, but made up for by beautiful downstairs lounge and dining room.
Food is great, but standard menu is incredibly limited. If staying for more than a couple of nights you'll have eaten everything on it before you leave! The buffet they do on Fridays is fantastic and the breakfast is great too, and you also have the option to go and grab a pizza from the pool side of the building. (Gluten free available, which was delicious!)
Special mention to the reception staff, especially one of the young ladies who's name I'll try and get to pass on thanks to management. She was incredibly helpful, friendly and a joy to speak with.
I haven't used the pool, and am hoping the new gym they were building last time I visited will be open next time! Will update review when I have.
Happy to be coming back again.
UPDATE - The new gym is incredible. 10/10. Great range of machines and free...
Read moreIt's okay. This hotel is like the essence of Østfold. There's nothing fancy going on, but the beds don't have bedbugs and the food is sufficiently over cooked to ensure no food poisoning. The highlight of the hotel is the incredibly nice bartender from Singapore. He's happy only like people not from Østfold can be, and does an amazing job barkeeping for drunk, ungrateful Norwegians. Can I recommend this place? I don't know. If I could come here during the zombie apocalypse, it would be an easy five star, since you get what you need. But in a world of choice, I can't really tell what this place's selling point is..? The most exotic detail I can think of is the seagulls circling in the clear sky. If you know these birds, you can tell this is more an offense than compliment. The anonymity and ordinaryness of this place borders on kitsch. I want to give two stars, but this represents the universal mediocrity of Norwegian society, and it deserves...
Read moreConvenient location for me, nice breakfast and common areas. This was my second stay here in a couple of weeks. The first time I booked a single room. No desk, just marks on the carpet where it had been. No fridge, no information material, nothing extra. Only a tiny, circular table to put things on. I'm pretty sure a prison cell at Halden prison has more charm than that room. In the last stay a few days ago I upgraded to a "superior room" with a double bed. More space, a lot more expensive, but actually the same standard as the single room. Still no fridge, but space in the cabinet where it should have been. I asked at the reception about this, and they said "yes, only some of those rooms have a fridge". It seems to me the hotel has tried hard to make it into a "sleeping machine", making it as efficient as possible to shuffle guest in and out. Don't expect anything extra when...
