Two of us had spent 2 weeks in the mountains and this was our last stay nights accommodation prior to catching the bus to Oslo for a flight home. |Being very late in the season we were the only guests. I had a problem trying to book bus tickets back to Oslo and I queried with the owner. She didn't have to but she took time to check sites online and was able to find the tickets for me, without her assistance we would have been catching a bus at just gone midnight :-(|We ate an evening meal there which was very pleasant and a reasonable price. As we were the only guests I did wonder what breakfast was going to be like. My worries were groundless and the breakfast was all we could have hoped for, typical Norwegian hotel breakfast but just the two of us in the dining area.|The room was basic but had a scorching hot shower which was lovely, no TV in the room but we didn't really consider that an issue, I know some people would. Checkout was 11:00 but the owner was happy for us to keep the room until our bus was due to arrive so we kept it until 13:15.|All in all a great last night and morning. The owners a Dutch couple were both friendly and helpful, and they had a lovely...

This hotel is very unique and has a special feel about it. We were met warmly on arrival and we found the experience with the staff throughout our stay to be consistently of a high standard. We were lucky enough to have a room with a view of the river, which was loud but not at all intrusive. The facilities are simple, given the location, but everything was functional and the spa facilities looked fantastic (unfortunately we didn't have enough time to try them). |We loved the restaurant, which offers a variety of local foods, and the service was quick and without issue. The breakfast in the restaurant was a simple affair, but it was tasty and provided enough to satisfy us for the morning. We enjoyed the location and the surroundings of the hotel, with walking tracks and nature to be found in...

This hotel offers an unforgettable experience, blending history, comfort, and exceptional hospitality. Established in the 1890s, the hotel feels like a living museum, filled with antique items, including a charming old chariot and displays of agricultural products, adding a unique character to the place. The Norwegian food served here is authentic and delicious, while the spa and sauna provide a perfect retreat for relaxation. The ambience is warm and inviting, making it feel like a home away from home. To top it off, the scenic river flowing behind the hotel adds to the serene beauty of the location. The hospitality of the staff was truly outstanding—highly recommended!

The new owners/managers are welcoming and so accommodating. The meals for purchase are very tasty and reasonably priced and the buffet breakfast (included in room price) was most enjoyable. I loved the coffee machine which gave options such as espresso & cappuccino! It's a wonderful, charming historic hotel, and very well kept. The bedrooms are basic, but I found the beds and bedding very comfortable. I was 100% satisfied with my stay. The waterfall behind the hotel is beyond amazing-just gorgeous-and the trails provided wonderful, peaceful walks with more beauty than I believe I've ever seen. I am SO glad we stayed here!

The hotel is situated alone by the roadside. There's nothing around, so it feels peaceful, and you can enjoy the sound of the birds in the mountains. A small stream, like a little waterfall, flows beside the hotel, and there are well-maintained walking paths. The hotel is very old, but it's been well-maintained and has a lovely antique atmosphere. However, the bed in the room wasn't very comfortable, and there was no hair dryer. The floors creaked with every step. Still, I had a relaxing stay. The hotel meals were delicious, clean, and overall very good.
