Our experience at this property was extremely disappointing from start to finish. On the morning of our arrival, we received an email informing us that there would be no electricity from 9 AM to 12 PM on our checkout day — the entire morning when guests typically shower, prepare breakfast, and pack. Because the water supply depends on electricity, this also meant no running water and no use of the toilet before leaving. This is entirely unacceptable for paying guests.

When we attempted to contact the host, we found that the phone number listed on their website was conveniently disconnected, leaving email as our only option. All correspondence was handled by someone named Robin, whose responses were unprofessional, dismissive, and at times arrogant. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience or offering any fair resolution, Robin stated, “there is no solution to it, and we do not feel like we should be punished for something out of our control.” When we asked for partial compensation, we were told our request was “not reasonable,” with repeated attempts to deflect responsibility.

Cleanliness was another major issue: • Dishes from previous guests were still in the dishwasher, giving off a bad odor. • Kitchen cabinets were dusty both inside and out, suggesting they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. • Dust was visible throughout the property. • The shower contained half-used toiletries from previous guests — with labels not even in Norwegian, confirming they weren’t freshly provided.

To make matters worse, the property is located on an active construction site, which was never disclosed in the listing.

Between the substandard cleanliness, the last-minute service disruption, the conveniently disconnected phone number, the undisclosed construction, and the unprofessional way Robin handled our concerns, I cannot recommend this...

Our stay here was extremely disappointing from start to finish. On the morning of our check-in, we received an email stating there would be no electricity from 9 AM to 12 PM on our checkout day — essentially the entire morning when guests need to shower, prepare breakfast, and pack. No electricity also means no running water, so we couldn’t even use the toilet before leaving. This was completely unacceptable.

When we tried to call the host to discuss the issue, the phone number listed on their website was disconnected, making it impossible to reach them directly. When we raised the matter by email, their responses were dismissive, unhelpful, and unprofessional. The host even wrote, “There is no solution to it, and we do not feel like we should be punished for something out of our control,” showing complete disregard for the disruption caused to paying guests. Rather than acknowledging the impact and offering a fair resolution, they told us our request for partial compensation was “not reasonable” and repeatedly shifted responsibility.

Unfortunately, the lack of electricity wasn’t the only problem. The property itself was far from clean: • Dishes were left in the dishwasher from previous guests, releasing a foul odor. • Kitchen cabinets clearly hadn’t been cleaned in ages and were dusty inside and out. • Dust was visible throughout the property. • The shower still contained half-used shower gels from previous guests — with labels not even in Norwegian, confirming they weren’t supplied fresh.

On top of that, the property is basically on a construction site, which was never disclosed in the listing.

Between the poor cleanliness standards, the last-minute service disruption, the inability to contact the host, the construction site setting, and the unprofessional handling of our concerns, I cannot recommend this...

Let’s start with the positive:

nice location directly overlooking Sogndål Fjord, very quiet decent private cabin (we had family cabin #1 for one night) with good shower and some amenities (shower gel, shampoo) good bedding and towels washing machine and dishwasher (with detergent and dish washing tabs)

Now, the not so good:

as you can see in the photos - the view is not unobstructed… in fact, it felt a bit like staying at a construction site (although no construction work was performed during our stay) the cabin felt aged and not well taken care of (eg doors handles felt like they might come off any moment, outside table had a loose leg, cushion spring protruded from underneath the couch, some parts of the cabin were dusty…) the metal bunk bed squeaks loudly anytime anyone moves even the slightest bit. Given that all 3 of us (our son on top, my husband and I on the bottom) slept in this bunk bed, it definitely affected all of us not sure how housekeeping works, but the dishes were still in the dishwasher when we arrived (albeit clean), and there was still some garbage in the bin in the bathroom… this is personal preference, but it is a rather gloomy experience to stay in a cabin where everything is deliberately kept in black (I’ve stayed in similar hotel rooms before - guess it’s “stylish” in some way, but also always hated it).

Overall we would not recommend staying here, esp. given that we paid more than for most other places (including some really lovely ones, sometimes even incl. breakfast) we booked during our 2-week vacation between Bergen...
