This was my second stay at the River Lodge and I am just as pleased with my stay as I was last time. ||||I arrived several hours earlier than I first anticipated, but this was no problem, as my room was already cleaned and ready for me. After relaxing and taking a shower in the lovely old-fashioned room with a river view, I went down to eat dinner at 7pm. Since there was only me there for dinner I got to sit in the living room where there was a warm burning fireplace and soft music to accompany me. The dinner was delicious and they had taken great care to make it gluten- and lactose free, just as I had requested. Following the dinner I went back to my room, where the soft bed and complete silence made me fall asleep easily, not waking up until it was time for breakfast. ||||In the morning I was positively surprised by the extra effort they had put into delicately arranging my breakfast, from the variety of cheeses and meat, to the cute small coffee pot and glass bottle for my apple juice. They topped it with a smiley face written with a marker on a warm hard-boiled egg. Upon leaving, one of the owners´sweet children took her attention away from her drawing activity to wave me good-bye! ||||The Rondane River Lodge was the perfect sleep-over stop for me on my trip from Trondheim to Oslo. I already look forward...

After landing in Oslo, we drove to our first (and northernmost) stop. Rondane National Park is the oldest national park in Norway and an absolute must-do!||We stayed for 2 nights at the Rondane River Lodge in beautiful Sollia. The owners of this charming hotel are two friendly Belgians who know Norway inside and out. The cabins are situated along the crystal-clear Vulua river, and the food is outstanding. There are also various activities you can book with them. For example, we went on a moose safari 🫎||We also rented e-mountain bikes from them, experiencing the park in a unique way. With 70 kilometers and 1,000 meters of elevation gain behind us, this was my favorite day of the trip! The bike ride is aptly named "mini-Alaska" 🚵🏼‍♀️||I highly recommend a canoe trip on the Atna river. We set off in the morning from Strømbu, and the trip was 11 kilometers long. In the afternoon, we hiked in Dovrefjell, looking for musk oxen. Again,...

A sense of summer nostalgia washed over me as I first sat down on the terrace. The atmosphere is charming and peaceful. Flowers everywhere and it smells like the forest. To my great surprise, I found fresh Belgian waffles on the lunch menu. The explanation came when I met the hostess, a Belgian. The brilliance of this place, apart from its central location in the heart of Rondane, lies in the intimate and personal hospitality extended by the Belgians. I’ve always had a bit of a love affair with Belgium and Belgians.||||The beauty of this place is that you can either rent a hotel room or a fully furnished cabin, making it suitable for both transient travellers and those who wish to stay longer. It’s also ideal for couples and families with children, something not every hotel can claim. They offer a modest lunch and dinner menu, but the dishes on offer are of...

We enjoyed one beautiful evening at the Rondane River Lodge. The room was very clean, functional, and well designed -- the bed was very comfortable. All of this we expected. What we did not anticipate was the luxurious food prepared by the two families (Belgian, I believe) who spoiled us with unique dishes and fun combinations of flavours. The hotel and the restaurant are very environmentally conscious -- very little food waste, lots of strategies, both big and small, to conserve energy and resources without inconveniencing customers. We went on two hikes near the hotel that were both well-marked and extremely beautiful. Highly recommended!

Recently changed owners and name, now called Rondane River Lodge. Nice place with friendly people and really good food from local produce. We stayed in the rooms upstairs (not the individual cabins). The rooms were pretty small especially since we had a cot in our room which didn't leave much space to keep our bags. The other negative would be that it is quite outdated like the creaking bed (they said they are slowly going to make improvements). But overall it's a charming place and would recommend it to others.

Absolutely fantastic location and really friendly, welcoming staff. We enjoyed a walk along the river and noticed there were several families enjoying barbecues and the outdoor area. We had a lovely set 3 course meal which was fabulous. Serious (prawns), traditional Norwegian meat balls ( delicious) and spectacular Tiramisu to end with. They sold local beers and spirits and a good selection of wine. An amazing place to visit. Thinking of going back in the winter.
