We booked a table at the restaurant of the hotel Saturday night at 8pm ( we were not guests). They have buffet dinner.

We arrive at 8.10 we sit and order wine. By the time we went to get our first plate it was already 8.30. At 9.15 when we wanted to go back again to get some more food all the food was gone. They took it away. We tried to talk to the restaurant manager and she looked like she didnt't care at all about what happened. Didn't have the understanding to listen to us. She kept reapiting non sense stuff that had nothing to do with our case and the dinner. Then we talked the a lady that she was Sales Manager, meanwhile she was informed by the other kitchen team the we actually arrived at 8 and not 8.10 and that we went to get food 3 times already before they took out the food. All lies. I dont who why whould they say that ?

The sales manager had no listening skills, felt like she didn't care at all about people having a bad experience and no intention to listent to anything we would say. She kept repeating Im sorry..Im sorry.. Im sorry. Felt like we were talking to a robot.

On the phone the guy that took our reservation smartly didnt inform us when we wanted a table for 8 pm that the kitchen would close at 9.15

If we would be told that we would just have one hour to eat on a Saturday night we definitely wouldn't book this bouffet restaurant

You really get a feeling that they just care about getting your money cuz they are the only big hotel in the area so they have no competition.

Also wanted to mention that our waitress was...

Very amazing location. Great surroundings. The hotel is well kept outside and is kept very clean and traditional inside. The rooms could be better. The bathtub was really tiny and we had gotten a family room… or suite. Anyways, the buffet is good, not great. The play area for kids is very cool. Nice and family oriented. BUT the management could improve. Our room had a huge tick. Like the ones that belong to a huge animal. Horrible. We called, a nice lady took it in a bag. They said cleaning personal would check. It looks like they didn’t because nothing was moved. I emailed the manager to follow up on this because I wanted for them to give me peace of mind that this was an odd situation, unusual… maybe I expected the manager to show surprise as it would bd normal for something that doesn’t happen. No. The surprise never came. Instead, she recommended me to check my 6 year old kids and myself because the tick was full of blood. She never said this is a first or that the hotel would make a thorough inspection of the room or the play area. Not the expected “rest assured this a very isolated situation and we will make sure it is a first and last”. Just a following email with the same concept. Terrible. I am not going back, no matter how much I like to spend the night in a hotel with my children just to get away from home. Home that is not even 1 hour 20 minutes away. Huge...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alexandra Hotel in Norway, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the hotel impressed with its elegant ambiance, warm hospitality, and attention to detail. The rooms were both spacious and luxuriously appointed, offering a serene retreat with tasteful décor and high-end finishes that made for an incredibly comfortable stay.

One of the standout features of the hotel was the variety of on-site entertainment options. I thoroughly enjoyed the shuffleboard, air hockey, and table soccer, which added a fun and engaging element to the experience. These amenities provided the perfect way to unwind and socialize after a day of exploring the surrounding area.

Another highlight was the hotel’s buffet, which offered a wide selection of high-quality dishes to suit every palate. From fresh, local ingredients to beautifully presented options across multiple cuisines, the buffet was both satisfying and refined—a true culinary delight that complemented the overall luxury of the hotel.

The Alexandra Hotel masterfully combines sophistication, comfort, and entertainment, making it an outstanding destination for both relaxation and recreation. I would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a well-rounded and memorable...

After cigarette smoke from the adjoining room, I contacted reception. Reception indicated they would find a solution. Later reception called to report they visited the adjoining room where the cigarette smoke came, and the guests denied smoking. No offer to change our room was in the solution. As we got onto the beds, we found the beds were merely a few inches of unsupported foam, placed over a cheap box spring: the worst beds I ever experienced in a hotel in any country. None of our family occupying two rooms could sleep on the beds. I placed the foam on the floor where I attempted to sleep. However, even with the door open to the balcony, the room was stifling. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were young, untrained individuals. Outside the lounge, all the tables were strewn with the glasses and bottles of previous guests. Service was not a feature in any manner here. No concierge. The spinning and aerobic classes represented in the website do not exist. This is an overpriced hotel that does not offer suitable beds for sleeping. Dining is a confusion from first seating to finish. As an international travel destination, you are best informed to seek the ratings from trusted sources. Hotel Alexandra is a tourist trap with the least comfort for guests. No fine dining here.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Alexandra! From our arrival the staff were attentive and friendly. If I ever walked around looking a bit lost someone would stop to ask if I needed help finding something. Children are very welcome here which was a relief since we had two under the age of two. Both cribs were already set up in our room since we had marked they were coming in our reservation. They even upgraded us to a junior suite! Such a surprise (and delight). The amenities are plenty and very well kept. The room we were in even had a minifridge which I don’t believe is standard in Norwegian hotels based on our experience thus far. The food was delicious - we enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets each day. I appreciated that we had the same table throughout our stay (similar to how cruises operate) so we didn’t have to check in with anyone prior to sitting down and eating. They had our child’s high chair ready at the table before we arrived for each meal. While in Loen we hiked, took the sky lift, did SUP on the lake through Loen Active and took advantage of the gym and sauna in the hotel. It’s a very active place but also relaxing if that’s more your speed. Highly recommend this hotel, especially to families! You will create wonderful memories in Loen!
